Hey guys, my name is J.J. I bought my Z when i was 17 and my Lincoln continental was totalled. I took the 2 grand from that, bought myself a 1979 280zx i saw in the paper for $1000 and then spent the other $1000 plus my entire savings fixing it up. I've never looked back. It now runs like a champ except for a few clunks in the rear when i shift and accelerate, but i'm looking into that thanks to all the information on this site I've been fixing my car up myself so be looking for me in the Car Tech forum because i'll probably be needing some advice =P

Heya, folks. I'm afraid I'm a bit new to the Z-car area, but learning rapidly. I signed up for your group, because thus far it's been an invaluable tool to help figure things out. Hoping to have pics of my 'new' (well, new to me) 1977 280z 2+2. Found it down in a towing yard for 350, would barely start, wouldn't idle. Purchased for 350, (yes, 350 dollars), and tightened down the very much improvised AFM to throttle body boot. (near as I can tell, they cannibalized a boot off something else, and cut it more or less to fit. Rather less than more) At this point it's 'running' though I hesitate to drive it. (got to looking, no o-rings, though that's an inexpensive fix…

1972 240Z and 1974 260Z. It's local, my friend is looking at getting a new car and I already own a '72 240Z. I did a mild restoration on my dad's MGB a few years back but don't have as many tools as I'd like in order to do a restoration on these. Our goal is to get the 240Z in good shape, and if time and resources allow possibly get the 260Z running and driving. So, for those who have done restorations before, what's your take? Both cars are F/S for $3000...

Just bought a '71 240 with a '78 280zx engine + 5 spd. Triple Mikuni's, Wilwood/Tilton brakes, coilovers, etc. Just proud and wanted to say Hi! Also wanted to thank the archive for a post by Birkl on getting the stock 240z tach working with the 280 distributer and an MSD 6a ignition module... Ken

Hello! After a pretty long search, I finally found and bought a 1971 240Z. I looked at several 260s, 280s, and even a 280ZX before finding this car sitting in a hanger out in the desert. It's a CA car, has a auto transmission, and looks like the old owner (ex-Navy fighter jock and McDonald-Douglas test pilot) took good care of it untill his health started failing. I don't think the car had been moved in a decade before I found it. The good: The car looks complete, and stock. It's been re-painted (looks like a good job) from the original mustard to a nice "go-faster" red. The car runs nicely, and holds a steady idle. The radiator and alternator look like they …

Hello all. Just stumbled upon this Z browsing Craigslist a few days ago. I've always wanted one but never bought in because was afraid of its age. The second I saw that ad however, even with no pictures I knew this car had to be mine. It'll be a long project but definitely a fun one. What you guys think? Oh and the best part The money-pit I just sold:

Hey whats up guys and gals? My name is Bruce I am from upstate New York. I have owned my 1976 280Z 2+2 since 2001 but I am just getting around to joining your forums. Within the past year I have swaped the engine in my Z because I blew the one that was in there, curently I am chasing down some vacauum leaks. I solved one only to find another. I have my AFM to TB boot down on the table slowly covering it in some expoxy to hopefully solve the last of my vacauum leaks. After this it will be get the car inspected and be ready to drive it once again for another summer. I recently made my own custom fuel rail for the Z too after looking a pictures of pallnets fuel rail being a…

well I finally started working on the 240. I have been lurking around this site for quite some time researching what to do with my little Z car. A little history on the car: It is a 1972 240z... For the most part it is unmolested, although not in the best of condition currently. My mother bought it in 1972 from the original owner (he was in the service and was being shipped over to Germany) practically new. It was tangerine and she loved the car. Funny thing, the original owners manual was in the glove when i got it open today along with the original note from the bank she got a loan from and like 21 years of registration slips. somewhere along the line my father had th…
