just bought a 1977 280z 5 spd over memorial weekend. the car has 80,000 miles and is very clean (amazingly clean for a car from milwaukee.) appears to be all original just needs a little tlc. The car sat for a while and runs a little rough, hard to start cold but runs well cold. once car comes up to normal operating temp the car seems to hesitate a bit especialy starting out in first from a stop and while shifting between gears. runs great on the freeway or when i excellerate hard. items replaced so far include vac hoses, fuel filter, egr, cap and rotor (Plugs and wires appeared to be new) a few things i am unsure of, first while cleaning the interior I noticed a wi…

Hey Guys, I'm Allen. I bought my 71' 240 about 2 years ago for $500. It had been sitting in the snow for 6 years so i figured i was in for a big rust project. So 2 years have gone by and it has been sitting in the back corner of my Uncles shop in Hawthorne ever since i got it. Just last weekend we started to completely strip her down. We went from a full car to just a shell (no glass, no hatch, no doors, no nothing) in 2 days and it should be going to the sand blaster this week. Suprisingly, there is very little rust on the car, the hatch is the worst part but it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement. As far as the motor goes, along with the car the guy threw in …

Welp i finally took the plunge and bought my first Z. Its a 1979 280ZX (yea ive heard all the bastard child stories ive read on here......) Im the 3rd owner. The original owners towed it behind their RV when they went on trips (108k on the chassis) but the motor only has 54k of actual driving miles on it. Heres a few pics of her. (This is after I had her detailed as she sat for allmost a year) Im unsure exactly what route to take with the car. Im guessing my dillema comes from do I want to just leave it in the condition its in to show how well its done unrestored for allmost 30 years.... should I replace the speakers and get some aftermarket wheels and tires …

I recently "repossessed" the '82 280ZX I bought for my step son two years ago to start restoring it. I purchased it from a single owner with about 250k miles on it but in excellent condition. It's Red with Black / Silver interior and runs almost like new. My hope is to work on restoring it (short of bare metal do over) over the next couple of years (paint, interior, electrical, etc). I'm in dire need of tech advice, recommendations, parts, etc. and thought this seemed like the best place to find all those. Thanks! Scott Burch

Hows it going folks, new to the Z and Nissan world. I have always like the old school Z's anything 78 or older. I am a Subaru guy at heart and spent alot of years playing with them while I was stationed in Japan. Anyway I picked up a 76 Z of the 280 varity, the floor pans are gone, the passenger side frame rail needs to be replaced, and one of the doors has been rusted through. Even after seeing all that I still could not refuse the poor Z, the guy I bought it from stuck the key in the ignition and the Z cranked up purred like a cat. So here I am digging up as much information as I can and hopefully get a line on a good place to find exterior parts, as well as learn about…

Hi, New member here from Beaumont, TX area (north in Lumberton). I've been a long time Nissan enthusiast....'99 Frontier truck owner, '05 Frontier truck owner, '06 Altima owner....and now I'm setting my sights on a Z project. I'm looking to pick up a 240z/260z/280z from 1974-1978 S30 style. I'm hoping to find something I can get into for $5000 or less that runs and has no rust, or all rust repaired. I'm also hoping to pick it up before the end of the year, just getting the research started and list of things to look out for. Lots of good stuff on here and I look forward to learning more from all you guys.

Hi everyone. I am the proud owner of a 1971 240Z that I just moved form suny California to the Northland of Canada. It is in reasonable shape and only minor rust on it. I have a 1973 240Z in the garage right now that I am in the process of parting out/stripping down. The body and frame are rusted out but everything else is there. I also have a 1972 240Z that has been given to me and supposedly has a high performance engine, hiher compression pistons and 280 valves in the head. I have bought a rear disk brake kit off of ebay and will update the progress. I have removed the SU carbs off of the 1973 240Z and am looking for rebuild kits for them. I am putting in a Pertronix …

Let me start by saying that I was introduced to Z-Cars when I purchased my 1990 300ZX Twinturbo about 5 years ago. I just love it and the community that surrounds Z-cars. Unfortunately I haven't driven it much as I'm in grad school in Alaska and didn't want to bring it up here (-40F winters suck). I was lucky to be able to store it at my father's house. In the mean time I needed a car up here. I bought a 1989 Acura Integra with the hopes it would get me through school. Unfortunately after driving it up here it wouldn't pass emissions. I didn't feel like working on it so I sold it to someone with interest in it. Which led me to finding a new car up here. Any car i…

My Father parked this 240z here in Spokane, Washington in 1986. Now it's my new project. According to my Dad it looks worse then it is, the interior is in super condition, and rust is minimal. Now if I can only get it here to New Jersey. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/bertonestudio/green240zrear.jpg

...Can't quite get pics up of my 280 yet (must retrieve it first) but... I do have some long windedness to show off. Belonged to an uncle years ago before he died (after having been owned/given away by every other member of my family since 1981), circa 1995 my grandma has had it parked between her Ford Aspire and a washing machine (apparently to protect the washing machine from any parking mishaps...). In any case, the family conspired, and it's now sitting in my garage... On the plus/minus side it's the only Triumph TR7 not currently in the state of being a small brown pile of oxidation... It would probably start in a day if I put the effort into it (or maybe not, it…

from my Lotus Not really as bittersweet as you might think, it's an 86 turbo Esprit, had it for the last 5 years, is my dream car etc., but I've had my fun with her, and she needs to go to someone who now can pay the imminent maintenance bills (not that it was ever even that unreliable, but the cost of keeping it that way was $$$). Plus it just being time for a change, and my dad having informed me of a neighbor selling a nice example of a 75 280Z... And I told myself I was going to get something reasonable (had my eye on a Smart or a Yaris...) Least the Z ought to start when I want it to, . Anyway, no pics yet as I've got to fly back up to Sacramento and drive the …
