Hello, Just picked up my first Z project. I have had a 280ZX and a 300Z turbo in the past but those were just transient cars. Neither lasted more than 3 months in my stable. My new Z though has been in my sights for more than 20 years. A neighbor had it in his garage after stripping in down for a paint job that he never finished. I moved away and returned to this town a year ago and the car was still in his garage. A deal was made and the car is now mine. It is a 1975 280Z. White Black interior 4 speed A/C It has been repainted with the exception of the hood. The hood is in primer. So far I have removed the gas tank with 20 year old gas. Too bad gas does not age like Scot…

I have a '78 280Z all original. Sometimes it will not stay running. It sounds like it is running out of gas but it is not. The engine will attempt to start and rev up and down then just die. When this condition happens the red alternator light comes on at the gauge. I changed the alternator and that helped. If I add a battery charge the car will stay running. The parts store states both the alternator and battery are fine. I have cleaned all light bulbs and sockets, electrial grounds to the engine and chassie, changed all fuseiable link connectors and wires. Simply running out of areas to investigate. Like I mentioned, this comes and goes. Any help will be greatly…

Hello All I'm a new member from Aldergrove BC and just picked up a 74 260Z from a work friend and it is a jewel in the rough so to speak.About 8 months ago I went over to his place to help him move some wood and what's sitting on his cement pad in front of his garage shop is this 74 260Z with plates that ran out 10 years ago..I'm a racer in the NASCAR "Welan All American Series" street stock division but I remember how awesome these little rockets were in the SCCA series back in the day so I told him he had to do something with the car. It seems his 10 acres and very large house is taking All his time and money now so he offered the car to me and I needed a friend for my …

So I finally rolled over 65,000 miles in the Z today. I did the math and she's averaged about 1700 miles per year since production. In actuality, it was more like 50 miles per year for the last 10-15 years. Who else here has a low mileage original like me?

Hi All: I have a '77 280z (52,000 original miles-4 speed) and the little "chromed" strips that trace the wheel wells are peeling, exposing the ugly grey plastic underneath...are there replacements available for these? Can they be repaired using some sort of flexible metallic trim? Any suggestions? Thanks-

FWIW, here it is. Be gentle; she's old and far from perfect. As some of you may know, the car's been garaged for quite a while. I am planning a long restore. I want to get her running again first. I need to drop tank, blow lines, go over the hoses, oil the cam/cylinders, and all the other things that go with getting a car drivable..... I pulled the floorboard carpet to inspect, but I never cleaned the interior. It's really dusty/dirty. I need to replace frame rails (pass. for sure) and floorboards. The pass. is not really rusty, but both are dented really bad. I have a few spots of surface rust. I won't know the extent in other areas until I pull her apart. Th…
