Hi folks, Matt here in southern Arizona. I've been a Z fan for about 7 years but wasn't in a position to acquire one until about a year ago when a '79 280ZX came up for sale in my (then) small town in Indiana. I've since decided it's not really worth restoring or otherwise fixing up due to some frame repairs and rust damage (especially since I'm now out here in the west where Z's are much less difficult to come by), though it makes a great daily driver. Got me all the way from Indiana to Arizona a few months ago with nary a hiccup. My current plan is to keep the ZX as my daily driver/work car, and find another 280ZX or first gen Z to fix up. I've got my eye on a 280Z th…

welp, just getting started in figureing out this web site. so nuch great info from all you z-freaks, all the help and knowlege is awsome! so i just pulled the z out from winter storage and all seems to be working as well as when it went to sleep last fall. to make my cars long story short i got the 72 240z for free from an ex-girfriend. she let it sit in the western oregon rain for 2 winters then moved. before leaving she signed it over to me for a $1 bill and a bill of sale. i tinkered with it for a few days and all seems fine. after reserch and looking at records it has a 81 L28 with a five speed. original su carbs, panasport rims and a 2 1/4 inch muffl…

Hello all, I'm obviously new here. I am a large SAAB (pre-GM that is) fan, however, im getting tired of the same ol' same ol'. I am looking to purchase an older Z in the next couple of months, and I was wondering if there was anything that I should look for in the cars, such as common problems. Possible common rust spots, etc. For example, I've had 3 Saab 900 Turbo's. I could tell you that the weak part of the car is the transmission, and more specifically 3rd gear. I could also tell you that if the car has been hit at all from the rear, that it causes the rear hatch to need to be pushed down before it opens (2 of mine were like this). Anything like this would be grea…

hi everyone, i just picked up a '76 280Z. I don't know anything about the old Z's except that I always thought they looked really cool when I was growing up. I've been messing around with old Suzuki motorcycles for about three years now and now I decided to try my hand at an old car. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions! The car doesn't run yet. I have the receipt from a mechanic that did some diagnosis for the previous owner that says the distributor is bad. I picked one up but I'm waiting for the service manual before I try and tear anything apart! The body is in pretty good shape. I think it's been a Texas car all its life because there is basically no rust a…

Hi, I'm Mike from Baltimore, MD & a Longtime Z-lover (dad had a 280z and a 280zx when I was a kid). I've been wanting to get into the scene for a long time. I hope to learn moe and more about them as I pursue (and purchase) a car I've been wanting since I was 4....a 280z. Best part will be when I get to show it to the old man^__^ Glad to be here.

Hey everyone, My name is james and I am about to take ownership of a 1972 240z that has been in my family for almost 30 years now. Hopefully I will have it back up and running soon and back on the road.
