Hello to the message board: I purchased this 1976 280z last summer, and I started to work on it a bit, but hadn't touched it for 5 months until just recently when I got the itch again. I'd like to get it in daily-driveable condition before the snow melts this spring. The body needs an entire re-work (rust through passenger floorpan, rust through passenger front wheel well, rust through rocker panels, rusty underbody), but the mechanicals are in solid condition, at least as far as I can tell. I had the starter rebuilt and everything in the motor likes to crank, but as of this weekend it wasn't sending fuel -- I diagnosed the problem and am waiting for a new fuel pump to …

Last month I pulled up next to Honda CRX. This thing had a tailpipe bigger than a soccerball. It sounded terrible and had 17" wheels on it. He rolls down his window and asked if I'd like to pop my Datsun's cherry. Nope. He wasn't listening because he starts reving his 4-cyl for all its worth and floors it when the light turns green. He nails through the intersection before I make it off the line, and he won. Thats right he won. What did he win? Well considering 3 seconds later he broadsided a police car I would say he won a night in jail, and more fines than I care to imagine. Of course I really couldn't help myself, so as I cruised by I waved at him as he was most likely…

Matt here. Looks like I found another great Z car forum so I'm comming along for the ride. I have owned five Z's in my time, mostly as a teen. This one is my most recent (sig.) which I purchased in 2/95 with a blown eng. After immediatly replacing the eng, I put the car in storage. Unfortunately, it has been there ever since. I guess I'm here for a little motivation. Any way, I look forward to being a contributing member. Thanks, Matt

Hey all I'm mostly a Supra fanatic, but I fell in love with ZXs ever since my friend got this white '79 280. I actually saw the car first, and a couple of days later I went to tell her about the car while she was working, to already find out her boyfriend had bought it. Not too spectacular of a car... to put it more blunty, it was a rustbucket. But a very fun and durable rust bucket. My friend beat the daylights out of the car, flogging it daily, and it handled the beating better than what I would have expected. In Nov. 2005 she had to move, and couldnt take the car with her so she gave it to me. Unfortunately, the car was pretty beat up and I couldn't do much with it…

It's 1979, my friend and I are on our way to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for a Trans Am race. Tooling down the Interstate in my 78 Chevy Monza with a nasty little V-8, speedometer pegged @ 85mph...thats right, that's as high as it went then, (gas crunching days) probably faster, but who knows! In my rear view mirror, I see what looks to be a string of headlights comin on pretty fast. So I pick it up a bit more, and the headlights keep comming on. Well, I'm not one to want to be busted going over a 100 so I let up a bit, since I wasn't too sure of my speed anyway. And in what seemed liked just a few seconds SIX of the prettiest little sports cars I'd ever laid eyes on blew …

Its been about 20 years since owning my last 240Z(70 LT-1 equipped). I have just purchased a very nice 1973 Silver 240Z equipped with a 350 ZZ4 crate engine-World CLass T5- R200 rear end-Modern Motorsports Coil overs, 5lug conversion,4 wheel disc brakes, 280zxt CV axel conversion. Now to my problem, which I know is typical w/ early Z cars, exhaust fumes in the interior. It is especially bad with the windows down. My 2 earlier cars had it and so does this one. The rear hatch seals were replaced by the previous owner and are less than a year old. If I remember correctly, it is a areo dynamic problem inherit to the car shape, the fumes actually whip around from the back hat…

i am very new to this whole old school scene, but i would like to know way more on how to make the z-cars works. i am Sai Vang and i live in Green Bay WI. only 16, but a ex car-freak (now car entheusits:rolleyes:). I have a '94 ecipse gs right now, but as my beater:D. i'm more of the want-to-learn member and seeking a future car. the 280z somehow fell into the future car catagory. also, i don't know anything about the motor, all show and looks only.

Hi all, I'm Greg in Dixon, CA (between Sacramento and Bay Area). I was actually given a '72 240z automatic by a realtive who knew I have admired Z's for years. :knockedou It runs fairly well (made the 300 mile trip from Santa Maria, CA to Dixon just fine), but the struts are shot. I've spent some time reading a number of postings in the tech area, and I am very impressed at the volume of knowledge and experience here. Thanks for maintaining this club. I am starting small by noodling with little details and just learning what kind of mess I've gotten into. I have one question I'd like to try to answer soon: on the fusebox cover, there are some warning indicator lig…
