I have just purchased a 1978 280 z with turbo engine. Did run prior to purchase but has not run for a while. I seem to have potential electrical problem with ignition . Coil is hot on both sides on run, but no current on start. Have traced and followed manual directions for checks. Seems to be O K. Can someone recommend wiring scheme to make this car run..Modifications would be O K> Thanks

HI All I have recently bought a 73 240Z, is in above average condition, was owned by the same guy since 1974 and was only every driven in summer. The car only has 60k Miles on the clock so I have no intention of touching the motor as this stage. It is very hard to get parts for the Z here in Switzerland so that is going to make things difficult if things start to fail. At the moment the car is stock standard, was repainted about 25 years ago and zinc treated, so no rust! I am currently looking for some cool wheels, would be happy for tips regarding suppliers! Also have a problem with the electrics, battery although new does not seem to charge, I replaced the regulator but…

Hi, I'm a first time Z owner, and it also doubles as my first car. It's a 76 280z with 90K miles on it. My dad bought the car from somewhere out in Ohio as a project car. I ended up getting it for my 16 birthday. It has rust :surprised, on almost every panel. And after removing the dingy carpet, found more rust, looked under it, more rust, under the seats, the wheel well, floor pan, rust; and dents too (the previous owner slid the rear into a ditch), but I'm not discouraged though, I got a MIG welder. There is only 2 (maybe 3) other people in this town that own Z cars, I've seen the one guy in a beat-up 280 2+2 and the other in a white 300zx (then again he might have …

I'm restoring a 78 280Z From the wheels up (I bought one new in 78 but had to sell her 2 yrs later when the kids came along). Not much rust, six coats of paint and a cooked engine. It's about 90% complete at the time of purchse in January and I bought a parts car. The problem I have is remembering what work on my Z needs to be done, missing parts I need to order and the good or new parts I already picked up. Being an old Air Force guy, I know something about maintenance records. Attached is an Excell spreadsheet I designed to keep track of the restoration. It has really helped keep on track so feel free to use it if you'd like. Problem.xls

Hello to all! From what I have read so far this is the place to be if it's "Z" info you are after! My trivia question is: Where are the hidden VIN numbers located in the "Z" if the usual 3 tags are missing (door post, dash, engine compartment)? All cars have such numbers stamped in the chassis/body that can't be removed and are used to verify the true VIN of the vehicle. You have 60 seconds.....just kidding!

This is a new experience for an old 240Z owner. I owned my first 240Z from August 1971, when purchased new, but sold in 1976. I have owned the current 240Z since November, 2003. It is a 1973 purchased new from Nissan in Japan in August 1973 by an Australian working in Japan. It was shipped to Australia in 1974 and owned by that person until 2003. The material that the original owner had included the original Estimate, Purchase Order, Sales Note and Receipts from the Nissan Motor Co., in Tokyo. Every conceivable document since then has been retained. The 1973 240Z is a blue Fairlady, in very original condition. It has the original windscreen, with factory "stamps" on side …

Hello, I just joined the Classic ZCar forum today. I currently live in Kansas and have always liked Z cars. I have only owned one in my life. I bought it i 1978 with 3000 Miles on it from a Datsun dealer who was driving it as a demo. It is a 1978 Limited edition with Black Pearl paint. I still own the car today but havent driven it in a few years. It still runs and for the most part has been kept indoors. My goal someday is to restore it to its original show-room condition. My question for the experts is what would be the cars value be today?. It has 109,000 original miles. The interior is in relatively good shape, needs new paint ect. Another question is what would be t…

Hi, my name is Colin. I have a 76 280z with a Lt1 sitting next to it. I got the project about a year ago and didn't have the time or money to complete it and it has just sat there . But now i have the space and time to complete it and have gotten back into researching all the steps to go through. Im hoping to get it running by the end of summer. That about all. Thanks in advance for all of the help I'm sure I'll receive.
