Hello everyone. I have just luckily acquired a 260Z. I have never owned a Z car before only Honda's and 1 Nissan hardbody. I bought this car with the intentions of being my project car/daily driver/chick magnet:p . I like it's design styling and most important smog exempt status here in California. I live in Bakersfield and I was wondering if there are other 240Z/260Z/280Z/ owners in town that could help guide me in the right direction toward reaching my goal with this project? Other outside help would be greatly appreciated.:classic: Thank You.

I'm an autobody student at my local community college and I found my 1978 280 for 200 dollars. One problem, the head is cracked and I dont know where to get a new one. Oh well it should still be fun to work on.

So many clubs are over run with mean spirited half cocked members that feel any opinion that is not theirs is wrong. I Have been an aircraft tech for 24 years working on CUBS to PIAGGIO P180 twins and I know there is allways more than one way to do the job. You guys are good mechs. You see this. I have a membership in another club and they are so aggressive it makes you sick. As an older wrench slinger, this is ok here! Thank You, Rick

Warms my heart to find so many others who have an affinity for the Classic Z car. It's funny how a car can become so much a part of your life without you even knowing. My dad bought an orange 1972 240Z in 1974. Commuted during the week and raced it in week-end auto crosses (parking lot races) down South in the '70s, as did I in the 1980s and early 1980s. Many fun and fond weekends. It was fun beating a Porsche 911, 914, 928 and an occasional Corvette (if they could make the class). In the late 1980s I rebuilt the engine with both the help of my father and grandfather (a GM man). The 1990's Northeast salt beat the car up quite a bit, but luckily I found a frame shop that s…

Hello All, I'm new to this group though I've owned my early '74 260Z for 13 years. Am just beginning the big project of refurbishing this car as it hasn't ran for the last 11 of those years. The body is straight with the exception of a few dents and has no rust. All the systems need to be reworked and the engine needs to be rebuilt (I presume). It always ran great and never leaked or burned a bit of oil. If you've ever had an engine that sat for so long and have any input, please let me know your thoughts!! Anyway, I'm certain I'll have my hands full this winter but I'm going to need a second car by next spring and I know my good 'ole Z car is up for that. I look f…

I'm not used forums before, but have extracted a great deal of good info. I'm in the process of reviving my '74 260Z for my son. I thought I was done with a total brake rebuild (new master, booster, rotors, calipers, shoes and wheel cylinders). I can't seem to get rid of a spongy pedal. Bled all fours twice. They were working ok prior to installing some reman'd calipers. The brake light now comes on. Any clues? -C

:devious: 71 240, we were replacing the head lights, at test time, I turned on the switch, nothing, Checked the fuze, nothing, started the car, all came on ok, then, amp meter charging 45, then fuze for the lights blew, and smoke from under the dash. Checked all connections, replaced the fuze, all systems work, but still charging 45 on amp meter. A call to the local Z gooroo, he says take a wire from the pos bat. to the hot lead on the alternator. It worked, charge is normal, I asked what that meant, he says give $150 and I'll tell you. I have not been able to find a scematic for the 71, our book starts at 74, with fuel inj. on it. Any thoughts? Thanks Ray67

Hello to the CZC board. I'm new to this one as i have mainly been on Z31 and Zcar.com in the past. May make the passage to a classic Z tomorrow. I looked at a 78 Z in early Oct at a Zshow in NJ. Sold my 87 2+2 in early summer and have missed it ever since. It was my 13th Zcar. Have had them from 79 thru 88 ZX's. My previous 12 were pictured in SportZ mag a couple years back which was pretty cool. Anyway, the 280 was in the show and i fell in love with it, did not hear it run and have not driven it yet. Tomorrow's the big day, I'm going with cash in hand so if it drives as nice as it appears it will be mine. Current owner bought in in 1980 and has given it xlnt care thru t…

Yesterday I bought my first Z car! Unfortunatly I could not drive it away just yet because the car has not been registered in a few years and needs a few things before its good for the road. Insurance, registration, and an inspection. That will all happen first thing tomorrow and I will drive her away! Because I don't actually have the car yet, the previous owners photos will have to do. First things first. I need to get rid of those horrible Enkei wheels. The car comes with the original "slot mags" which look endlessly better. After that, the color needs to change. Its not a good paint job. I don't know when it was done, and I can't stand the color. The pai…

I am almost 16 and own a 74 260Z. I love zcars and if I had the money to spend on them, I would be broke. Well, the car was bougt by my stepdad in the early 90s and a few years ago he sold it to me. Ever since then, I have been driving my famiy nuts about zcars. Because the car is so small, I have to wait till Im 17 to drive it regularly. But I think it's worth the wait. Until then, I think I'll read about other people's zcars.

I have been in the Z community for a while now, but not like this. I have been the proud owner of a 90 300zx that I raised from the dead may years ago. Just over 7 years now. I have always loved the look of all the Z cars...with the exception of the newest addition. I am now looking to do something that I have always wanted to do, and that is to roll the clock back and get into the original. I am actively looking for a Z...not a ZX. Just a shell would be fine. I am looking to get going on another 5-7 year project. Not only for myself, but I would like to use it as a tool to teach my kids a thing or two as they grow up. So with that, hello again, and perhaps someon…
