Hi, my name is Charlie and I live in eastern NC right by the Intercoastal Waterway. I am buying a one owner 1972 Z next week. It is in very good condition and can be used as a daily driver. Back in the mid and late 70s I raced a '72 Z in Solo II category of the SCCA, NC Region. In '78 I was fortunate enough to win 1st place for that year in AP class. Other than driving several Nissans over the years I have not had a Z car since then. I also collect British sports cars and have two Austin Healeys. A '66 3000 and a '59 Sprite MKI. I look forward to enjoying this Z because it is much more "driver friendly" than the British cars. I will be checking in and asking quest…

New user to this website so bear with me. I have a 12/70 240z and am in the middle of installing a 5-speed transmission from a '77 280Z. I know this topic has been batted around quite a bit, and I have read most all previous threads on this topic. I understand that to facilitate the later B-Type 4-speed or 5-speed transmission, one has to trim the frontmost part of the transmission tunnel and install the later boot from a 72-78 Z car. The reason is obvious once installed, as the transmission is set forward considerably. The car had been hacked slightly 1/2" with the previous owner using the later B-type 4-speed transmission. The 5-speed is about 1/16" shorter than the 240…

Hey everybody...My name is Tim,I introduced myself almost a year ago.I'm the guy that did some things a little backwards when I got my baby...but all worked out well! I'm the Southern Calif. guy that went back east to get my Z. After going over the ads here and also ebay,I found a 1972 Z in Fon du lac Wisconsin. After talking to the owner a couple of times, and going by the pics, pulled the plug and bought her.Long story short,it arrived, and turned out to be everything I was told it was...and really better! The engine is totally strong, and the 4 speed is a smooth as silk.It had one respray on it done in the original color,918 orange. The only problem I had was it was a very "b…

Hello from San Fran! Prior to last year, I never seriously considered getting a Japanese nostalgic. The closest I've gotten to owning an older car is my '89 BMW E30 M3 purchased 3 years ago. Since then, I have faithfully tracked down all the rare AC Schnitzer parts for it. The thrill and excitement for me is in the hunt, especially for the really rare stuff. I caught the nostalgic bug hard after checking out the Japanese car meet @ Bayline last summer. In the weeks/months after, I purchased a '74 Celica coupe from Portland. It was all original down to the factory luggage rack on the trunk. I did all the much needed maintenance and got it road worthy. Then my focus turne…

Hello, Apparently I have been a member here for some time but have not logged in for ages. So I take this opportunity to introduce myself. Name is Greg and it appears I have inherited a project that was originally started by me many years ago. It has been in the hands of my son for some time. He is off to school soon so I guess the fun begins. The project is a 72 that is ready to be reassembled. All rust repair and body work done. Engine rebuilt and installed. This leaves wiring and a reinstalling the interior along with some other misc items. The car is all original with the exception of a very nice black paint job. So you all can expect to be hearing from me as…

Hi- I am from Vero Beach. Florida which is about half way down the east coast. I have had 4 Zs, a 74 260, a 86 300, a 87 300 and my current driver a 1978 280Z. I found the 280z over the net. It was owned by an airline pilot who took great care of it. It was all original including the paint. A neighbor backed in the right front of the car. I had to replace the bumper and the right hand headlight case. At this point I decided to have it repainted. It looked great. The paint shop that painted it had a problem with the clear coat that they used and have agreed to repaint the roof, hatch, doors and hood. There is rust beginning on the front apron, top cowl grill and right head…

Hello Z people! I am 18 years old and before falling for Z's. I was a Muscle car fanatic, My summer job was restoring them (Chevlles, Impalas, ect.) and my father owned a '70 GTO which I absolutely loved! I moved to Milwaukee this past September for college, and a newly acquired friend was a die hard import man. Hanging with him opened me up to the world of imports in general, then one day I saw a 240z in a magazine of his and it was love at first sight. I still have a placed reserved in my heart for American muscle but for now I want a 240z as a project incredibly bad. The search continues for a good project car and my funds grow! Would love to have one for summer …

Hi, new member here from Edmonton, AB. After 10 years or so in the world of water cooled VW projects, I've switched gears and have fallen for the Z. I've found a basket case that I'm going to get in over my head on! Not sure of the exact year yet, but it is definitely an early 70s 240Z. Currently non-running, been parked for at least 2 years. I drive past it a few times a week, and it's always caught my eye. Now, after selling my previous VW project, I have room in the garage to load this thing up. I'm going to have a close look this weekend, and will have a trailer with me. From what I can tell, it's not too rusty, the pan and underside appear pretty solid, body has mini…
