My name is Dan. I'm 47 years old and live in Maryville,TN. I bought a 280Z about 4 months ago. It was pretty sound over-all but had rust in all the usual places. I pretty much gutted the interior. I have the car at Funkytown Customs right now getting the rust areas repaired Funston has all the panels off the car and the windows out. He is going to strip all the paint and re-paint it with Dupont Acrylic enamal. I live in the same town as Roger, who owns the Zbarn. I have gotten quite a few things from him at a really good price. He's been very helpful. I have been shopping aroun for weeks on the internet for a molded carpet kit. Everyone seems to have different opinions ab…

I just wanted to say hello to all the Z Car members and thanks for all your postings as they have help me in rebuilding my wifes's z. I have owned an 81 Turbo that went to z heaven in 1987. I finally bought another 280zx (83) in 2008 and have enjoyed fixing her up. Since my family consist of four I can only take one member to shows or club activities so I decided to buy a 280z for my wife to joined me. I bought her a 280z for 800.00 in the summer of 2009 and it should be ready to roll by her birthday in Sept 2010. All the interior is complete and the car should be painted this summer. Thanks guys, Jesse P. Fort Worth, Tx.

Hi Everyone! I am in San Diego...My husband is a proud owner of a 1978 280Z Black Pearl. I like to buy him gifts for his baby when I can. In exchange he will let me take his baby out for a ride once and awhile. Lisa

I have a 72 Z that I bought new from PaceSetter in Rochester. It has 242,000 on it. About a year ago I overheated it and it started blowing blue smoke. I figured I had melted the valve seals so over some time I got a rebuilt head and replaced it. Got it funning and it still blew smoke so I figured it need the bottom looked after. had arranged to take it to a place for the rebuild but now I can't get it started. Everything seems to be normal up to the started motor starting. So, I have: Charged/checked the battery OK I have taken the started motor to Kragens for testing OK I have replaced the starter switch (not the key part) OK I have replaced the coil OK I have change…

Hi all, my girlfriend has always wanted an older car (a '67 impala...) but I refused to let her get a thing of a car (a '67 impala...). I showed her an old Datsun with hopes of her falling in love with one (instead of a '67 impala...), and guess what? She did! After a few months of looking for a fixer-upper, we found one in the greater Seattle area that has a great body (we got lucky). The clutch is pretty much toast, the mirror is broken, the ignition is fubar and the seats are unusable, the shocks are not even present, the brakes are weak, the engine bay is a mix and match party of parts (like spark-plug wires being different brands and lengths, etc) and the steering …

I was wondering about this because I wonder how my 77 or 78 280z is doing these days. Got it in high school and had it during part of college. Loved that car, sold it to a 15 or 16 year old guy and his dad. But now I'm looking for a new baby and wondered if anyone had any stories (and pics) of z's that they used to have and then got back at one point or another. I'm sorry if my topic isn't right for this section, I'm very new to this site.. -C

Following up on a cross-thread in FrankensteinZ's travel-ogue, I propose this thread. Post your stories of what and how your Zed has left you stranded. Humorous stories are fine, as well as gut wrenching ones. The ideal story should, hopefully, have a "I drove it home" finale, but I think you get the drift. Dinner just got here, so I'll post mine later. There were a couple of previous posts in the originating thread, and I'll let them have first post honors. I will say however, that I'm probably the ONLY person to have had wheels come off two different cars, with minor to no damage. One I was towed home, and the other I drove it home. In the second instance, I drove …

Hello all, Jeff is my name. I've been lurking for the last few weeks, waiting until we picked up our new Z before posting. Well, first off your probably looking at my log in name and scratching your head. I'm in the process of building a 49 Oldsmobile fastback, it's the name I'm used to using on any forum I belong too. My almost 16 year old son and I were offered a 1974 260Z, that we just couldn't pass up! My boy, Eric has been looking for the last 2 years for a car. He told me he wanted a car that doesn't look like every other car on the road. My neighbor across the road has a 73 240Z, that Eric has been helping with and going for rides in. Then out of the blue this…

Im a new member here, and I have loved the Z cars since I got my first Z car Hot Wheels as a kid! There was something about the lines of this car, and as a kid, I hadnt seen anything like it. I owned a 77 280 back when I was a teen, though I never got to drive it. I worked at a wrecking yard, and we had a white 2+2 that was begging to get back on the road. I bought it for the paltry sum of $200, with a great engine. Cold compression was a straight across 180 psi, but was a little pushed over in the front end. I didnt know anything about cars at the time, so it sat for a year or two. Eventually, neighbors complained, and I had to get rid of her... I knew a girl who also ha…
