And this is what i came up with She needs a lot of work, my plan is to do a complete refresh over a long haul. Picked her up for $1250 locally, she runs and drive, no rust nor any obvious repair. Had her on a lift and her belly is clean and dry, what worried me is the right rear quarter panel and the impossible to find fuel tank. Just wanted to say hi to all....now if i may be excuse to go brouse your guys awesome data base.

About two weeks ago I burned up the transmission in our '87 Camry (finally. really have just been looking for an excuse to get rid of it and get something fun). I was cruising around, looking for a beater to get me through the next year or two, when a pointy little front end peeked out from behind a delivery truck in the "for sale" lot at a local junkyard. Intrigued, I investigated further. OMG! An old Z! With a mostly straight body! and a 5 speed! For $995! I did a mental check on my "dream car" list and yes, a Z was on it. It was a Sunday, and they were closed, so I had to wait until Monday to call about it. Called. Got info. Found out it ran. Ran up to the junk…

Hey, guys. I'm Erick, and this is my 1975 280Z. It's missing a few non-critical things, but it was running strong until two days ago. I bought it a month ago and I had a blast learning to drive it--it's my first sports car and my first manual. It's acting up now, but I'll explain that in the appropriate section. I sold my 2001 Honda Civic and bought this car. Definitely an upgrade!

I bought my Z in 1972 and still have it. It has about 234K miles. But what has me here joining you is my current problem. About two years ago I overheated the engine and it started to blow blue smoke. I assumed that I had melted the vavle seals so I replaced the head with a rebuilt one. I started up the engine only to realize after about 5 minutes that I was getting water in the oil. Evidently I didn't get a good seal on the head gasket. Pulled off the head and did it again. But that isn't the issue. Since doing that I have started it up without the water leak but still smoke so I figured the bottom needs attention too, but that isn't the issue either. Now I can't get i…

Hi there, my name is Chris and I have a Datsun. More specifically its a early 74 260z and I bought it about 8 years ago. I drove it for one summer and a bit of fall til the drivers floor pan went Fred Flintstone on me. After a bit of searching around the car for more I got a lot of rust problems. Mechanically the car was fine just the body had issues. So that winter I took it apart and put the 'bits' in boxes in my moms basement and took the car to a shop and worked on it there for a while scraping all the gunk off it and what not. I had extra cash back then so i bought pretty much all the body panels i could get my hands on, all the usual suspects. And there it sat. Fas…

What is this part? My motor recently sprung a good oil leak. Wondering what are common places for this motor to leak in front just over sway bar. I don't recognize this part on attached image, which is where oil looks like coming from. May just be coming from higher up motor & dripping down.

Hi All, Im a Z guy from way back. Had 3 road Z's and 4 rally versions ranging from mild to an ex factory Safari car back in the UK. Moved to Canada and built a Z to do the Panama Alaska Marathon Rally (came 6th O/A) sold it and then bought it back to do Targa Newfoundland 2 years ago. Great fun but blew the engine on the last day when a valve dropped ( never heard of that before in all the years Ive raced them !!). Rebuilt the car again and did the Knox mountain hill climb last year. I now have a problem I cant figure out so will post a question on that forum. You can see my current Z and my other competition cars on www.rmtcontracting.com/rsport. cheers Twiz

Well I guess I saved it from the crusher. But boy-o-boy where to start. Body work and rust aside just tearing into the suspension on a 39 year old car is daunting. One spindle pin popped out with deadblow but the other side is going to have to get pressed out along with other rusted items. I press on however because I see lots of potential on the fun meter. Coming from a Honda background I'm glad to see Z car owners taking care of each other. Plus it seems that everyone has a Z story even if they are not gear heads. I hope to get it running and fixed up so that i can get some stories of my own.

Hello all! I recently bought a 77 280z. Previous owner was doing a restoration to it.Interior is great, no cracks in dash or console, all panels in good shape too. Just needs carpet and new seats. Body is straight, just a few rust spots to contend with. Motor was replaced with one rebuilt with 10K on it. It started fine, idled a bit rough, when I give it throtle, the response is very slow and it will make a pop sound from the front. The rpm gauge slowly goes to about 2 thousand and then stays, doesn't move with engine rpm. Tried to drive it and it bogged and died. Won't start now. Has new battery. I'm an idiot about fuel injection, have no idea where to start with this. H…

Hi everyone, Yes another Newb, but I love my 240Z. I picked it up at the Carlisle Fall auction last year. I am finally getting some time to work on it (starting with the dreaded fume problem!). You have a great site and everyone seems to be really helpful. Hopefully I can contribute in the future. I am an old (50) car guy and I remember when these first came out. I have been into Mustangs for years and currently have an 88 Mustang ASC McClaren sitting next to the Z. Both cool cars in different ways. Anyway thanks for the site and he knowledge I've already picked up here. Chuck
