This thread has been a long time coming. I got my 240z when i was twelve, and stared at it in the garage for 4 years before i could drive it. Its been a work in progress ever since. I made up my mind 5 years ago I was gonna save up enough to drive the car across country and relocate there. I moved to chicago and worked for 4 years saving up to come back and finish the car. I quit my job in May and spent the whole summer welding, sanding, wrenching, and thinking id never get done. As i am anything but a mechanic. Those of you on the threads will know that, as I have bugged nearly everyone on here for help along the way. You can see my car on my profile. This s…

Here are some pics of my car. I bought this last spring for $600. I spent this summer getting most of the mechanical issues straightened out so I could tackle the body work this winter. I am focusing on the engine compartment area for now. I did get the new floorpans in a few months ago though. I've never painted a car, "with correct materials" so I thought doing the engine compartment with base/clear would be a good place to start. Of course the painting is nothing compared to the prep work. I'm happy so far. This weekend I'll get the rest of the undercoating done, then I can start cleaning, painting, and polishing the engine. Then get it back in. Oh, and I have the uret…

Greetings: I purchased a 1972 240z (Green paint #133 and butterscotch interior) last month from the second owner who had been in possesion of the car since 1976. The car had seen some degree of regular service (142K miles), but not much in the way of maintenance or use in the past five years. The car is original except for a replacement 5-speed transmission of unkown origin - the owner had it done around 1989 by a local shop. It has the dealer installed A/C - all connected, but not operational. The car does start (not easily) and drive. Car has typical issues - will be searching and posting for assistance soon. I have worked on many vehicles over the years and have …

Hey all. Thought I'd do the formal introduction. I got my Z 20 years ago when I graduated high school. Due to not a lot of money and no real wrenching skills it's condition never really improved through the 90's. I spent the bulk of the 00's raising kids and working so once again not much car time. Now that the kids are older and my son is quick to tell me over and over that I need to fix up the car the Z is back on my radar. I promise to always use the search feature before I ask any questions. Looking forward to learning from everyone's expertise.

Sup folks, Wilson from Elk Grove (south Sacramento, California) here. Going to school in LA, I've had my Z for 4 years now. It is a 73 240z, with a small block 327 chevy in it. I'm painting and refreshing the car, but I'm still having carburetor problems. So, just saying hi.

Hello, I advertise alot of items for sale on this site. As one buyer pointed out I do not have any posts to my name and have no feedback. I have had my current '76 280z for 14 years. It is the only car I have owned in that time. I am posting pictures of it and my engine bay at the end of this message. I mostly post on HybridZ. For feedback please log onto EBAY where I do business under the monniker; datsunation I have 100% positive feedback. I do not mess around with lying on item descriptions or gouge on shipping. I implement the fastest turnarounds humanly possible. It's all about service in my book. Thanks for looking…

I am currently trying to replace the timing chain on my 1976 280Z, This is my frist 280Z. So I am following the manual. I need to remove the crack shaft pully to then remove the timing chain cover. The manual states I need to lock up the engine to losen the retaining nut on the crack shaft. It states the best way to do this is to remove the fly wheel inspection cover and then I can lock up the engine. Are they talking about the removing the starter to access the fly wheel?

Hey all! I'm just starting to get my feet wet into Z cars. Right now I'm on the search of a good starter Z for myself. I live in PA and its difficult to find one in decent shape here. I'm really looking for a nice, clean, good running Z31 with a manual transmission, although there are a few others that I like. Anyone selling or willing to trade, I have a 1991 Honda Prelude Si with only 112K on it that I'm looking to trade/sell, you know the drill. PM me if that is something that might interest you. Thanks again! Mike whitecomet21@comcast.net

Hey guys, name's Dylan, I got a 78 280z 2+2 for christmas, just thought I'd say hey! also, I've been trying to find out what rear diff is in my car? I'm having issues ha yes I know there are forums galore on this, but I wonder because it says that 280s with manuals had the r200 with like 3.54s or something like that... but nothing is said about the 2+2 and honestly, I think the gearing would be lower because at 75 I'm revving on the top side of 3500. sorry if this is a nuisance, but I am just curious.

Hey everyone! I've actually had my '73 240Z since August '07 but I just recently decided to check out this site. I'm in the middle of doing a partial re-restoration of my car, as well as swapping in an L28ET engine with a custom-fit Z32 5 speed. I hope to also make use of the freshly-rebuilt triple Weber DCOE's from my current engine for a blow-through turbo setup :classic: Please check out my FS thread; I've just parted out an '83 ZX Turbo and I've got everything up for sale except the engine itself! Here's a couple pics of my car:
