The story begins here, in Gothenburg... This is my 1971 240z when I picked it up after arriving in Gothenburg from Chicago. E"verything" looked "well" - and met my expectations from the pics in the ebay auction. However - the "rust free" turned out to be a big hoax... Anyway, after getting it up on the trailer and taking it home to Stockholm it was unloaded at a friends company - called Speedworks where I assume most of the mechanical mischief will take place once the car's been restored. The engine was fired up (or rather jump-started since the ignition wires had been yanked from it's original place) - picure below. Vidcap-picture of the car at Speedworks. …

Hey guys! I just recently obtained my 2nd Z back in August. My first Z was my first car, a 79 280ZX back in 2000. She was mine until early 2002 and she sat until 2008 where I ended up selling her for 300. A full running ZX that passed smog :stupid: I decided to get a 240Z because I've always wanted to own one. Please check out my build thread and help me in my build as I will need your advice and ideas.

Hi everyone ! just wanted to introduce myself. My father recently passed away and his last wish was for me to have his '77 280z, this was his baby and he knew i would fix it up and care for it as i do ny '95 Eclipse GS-T. I owned a '74 260Z back in the late 70's early 80's and enjoyed it till the hot south Alabama heat gave me fits with those side draft carbs. My dad was not one to spend money on a car and if was not broke he did not mess with it. He was the worlds best tinkerer and ducktape mechanic so i have my hands full and all the help everyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

I remember when I first got my '78. EVERYONE was stopping me to ask about it. Then after a couple of weeks, that didn't happen anymore. I was starting to wonder whether it was because the same people had seen it or whether I simply looked more at home in it. Maybe the grocery store runs with paper bags just don't look as sexy. Anyway, yesterday was another day in which my Z got a lot of attention and misc. weird stuff happened. At one point on our rounds, our accountant asked to look under the hood and hear the engine. We talked about the car for a while. When we left his place and pulled up to the first light, up beside us rolls another Z -- same years as mine ('7…

Hi I'm a new member on this site. I'm 38 years, living in Denmark and works as a toolmaker. I've always liked the 240 Z, but being brought up in a Honda dealership, they were an absolute no-no. I hope to learn more about these cars, models - year etc. during the winter, and hopefully buy one next spring/summer. Thanks zdk.

Hi my name is Vernon. I live in southern Caifornia. A few years back my dad gave me his 1971 240Z. It was sitting in the garage with a broken transmission. It's orange with molded fender flares and 5 slot mags, 14x6.5 rear with 245/60/14 and 14x6 front with 205/60/14. I'm not the kind of guy to make a show car out of anything cause I like to drive to much. I can't see chipping a $5000.00 paint job so I just don't get them. Currently I'm tearing the car down to repair rust spots and rebuild the motor and trans. I will try to post picks soon. Till then, thanks for having me. Vernon:beer:

Hello from Norway:) I am new to the Z-car club scene in general, and like to thank you all for many helpful and interesting views on the cars and their history. My english is wrong or at least bad, but I have a lot of love for these cars in general as I grew up on Datsun´s. Belive my family had almost all models in the program as my father work for Nissan for more than 30 years. Altough Z-cars where never common in Scandinavia, Norway was the first with Datsun in Europa - with history way back to 1960.. Bought my first Z witch I still have in 1992. I was 18 and crazy enough to go for a ground up restauration with no money or skills to back it up.. hmm.. didn´t get my ca…

What would cause the cable from the battery to the starter to smoke at the starter end ('73 240Z)? It has a new battery, but a weak alternator that will soon be replaced. Gary
