Hey, my name is Amy Taylor. About 2 years ago I purchased a 76 280z. I love my baby!! I have had several problems, but I seem to have a great mechanic who loves her just as much as me. I have a question to anyone who might be able to help me. I have bought several fans for my ac motor blower. However they have all been cracked and end up shredding like the last one. Is ther anyone who knows how I can get a new or slightly used fan? Can I interchange years? I bought a new motor blower, but it didn't come with the fan. I live in Houston, and so far we have had numerous days reaching triple didgets. So you can understand how important this is!! Please, oh please...someon…

Hi there, Just bought a 73 240Z today and i've been driving it all evening. Funny story: Wife wanted to go for a walk after dinner and I did not want to go in the least. After bugging me and making me feel guilty for not ever wanting to go i gave in. We decide to walk up 2 blocks and head left at the intersection and there it was about 7 houses in, a black, beautiful 240z for sale. I'll post up some pics tomorrow after i wash it.

Hello, I'm kinda new to the Z world although I actually bought it about 5 years ago. Originally i bought my car from a girl who had it. It was her daily driver, her dad had bought it for her. The seems to have had orange paint. It has mesh wheels unknown brand (14's). It says E88 on the engine. When I bought the car the entire engine bay was black, completely covered in oil. The entire inside of the hood and even the battery was covered in oil. First thing I did was get rid of most of the oil that I could. I would run fine until one day the metal fan broke apart after one start early in the morning. The fan blades cut through my hood, my wires, the side of the fender and …

I purchased a 1971 240Z 2 years ago and just getting started on it. It was garaged for 20 years in California. Speedo says 59K but I think it is 159K. It is all original in good shape but hasn't been started in 20 yrs. Owner said it was smoking when he stored it. Took the valve cover off and it has 2 stuck valve. Always thought I would have to rebuild motor. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciate. Looking forward to checking our your forums

Hi there! New on the forum here and new to the world of Z. We got a running 77 280Z all in good working order and hope to teach/learn a thing or 2 about working on cars. I'm a bike nut myself and wrench all the time so figure it's the same.... just bigger. So a couple questions to start... What's the torque value of the oil pan and valve covers? Can't seem to find it in my Clymer book... Then again, can't seem to find alot of stuff there. I'm hoping cinching down the bolts will stop the wee oil leaks. Otherwise off they come and new gaskets go in. Brakes - all work great! For a '77 Datsun. I see all kinds of rear brake upgrade options online, but what abo…

Since I just acquired a 1973 240Z I thought I would go on line to learn more about them. I found this site and another and have joined both in the hopes I can learn as much about my Z car as I know about my other vehicles. OK, so you are probably saying "what are the other vehicles?" I have Ford trucks. A 1984 F-150, a 1999 F-150, a 2002 F-350 and a 2006 F-150. I am restoring the 84. My friend gave me this 240Z. I don't have a lot of details other than it has a few rust spots. When I saw it last (several years ago) I told him that if he wanted to get rid of it I was claiming right of first refusal. So it's mine. I have always wanted this car since I saw the first one when…

I've recently got back into the Datsun world, and I'm glad I did. I previously owned a 70 240Z with a L28 swap, that was about 7 years ago. I had since sold the car only to find out that the body was scrapped and the motor was sold a few months later!! I never forgave myself for that! Last year I picked up an 84 300ZX that I am now in the beginning stages of rebuilding the motor and making the Z look clean again. I hope I can get my hands on another early Datsun, but this time I won't be letting go, haha.

I have a 1972 240z I got the car not knowing what the past of it was. After getting it running, it ran really rough. Upon a compression check, 60 psi in 2 cylinders and 0 in one, and 140 psi in the remaining 3. To find out what was wrong with it, I removed the head and inspected the valves. I found 3 bent exhaust valves. Can the distributor be turned far enough one way or another to cause the valves to hit the tops of the pistons? And how did this occur?
