I've had my Z since new, it's a 74 260 with manual trans. I drove it for 15 years, then parked it in the garage for the next 15 yrs.( Big mistake) I've spent the past 4yrs getting it running again (lots of work) but a labor of love). Had the head rebuilt, replaced the flat top carbs with older SU's as well as several other parts way too numerous to list. Had it running good but now am experiencing intermittent electrical problem (no spark) which I believe and finally my mechanic agrees is a problem with the Transistor ignition unit. (We've already eliminated a fuel delivery problem as well as the obvious problems, ie. coil, distributer, plug wires, dist cap, wire corrosio…

Hey, So I have been working on this z for about six months. It's a work in progress and is getting put together. When I got it it was stripped all the way down and had been soda blasted. So me and my dad have been sand blasting all the parts, painting them, and putting them on the car. You can see my blog at zrestoration.blogspot.com.

What's up all. Just want to get a post in to say hey and thanks for having this great resource for us Z fanatics. I'll probably be sticking to the S30 section mainly, as my Z is a '72 that is fully torn down at the moment. The project is about to get a big jump start in the coming weeks, when I pick up my new mostly rust free and straight shell, as well as some performance goodies (5sp, rear disc conversion, R200 etc). Hopefully it will be on the road in a year or so. I'll post a thread in the general section soon to show my progress to this point. This site rocks!

Hello All, I just picked up my very own 73 Datsun 240z. It is not in anyway mint condition and may required lots of work...(bodywork due to rust and tuning the carb) which I have no knowledge whatsoever. For some reason I can only step on the gas pedal slowly to pick up speed otherwise it sputter and stall. I will rely on the expertise of this forum but I am looking forward to get start working on it. The green Datsun is my brother. Thanks, PB </a&g…

Hi all. I'm JD and a new member. I have a 72 240Z in mint condition inside and out. I've owned in for about 11 years but unfortunately must sell to fund another project. I'm thinking it is worth 10-12K. Does that seem reasonable?

Hello Classic Zcar community! My name is David and I am from Slovakia. I am studying design of wood at the School of Applied Arts in the capital- Bratislava. I am interested in historic racing cars and prototypes from my childhood. My favourite racing "beasts" "D are the Datsun 240Z and 260Z, especially the ones with the wide imsa body kits like the Bob Sharp Racing cars. Thanks to Bobby Hanwey, author of custom 240Z, who recommended me this forum I gain a lot of new info about the Datsun cars. Here is really lot of material about these cars, and as I am a newbie in this area I am amazed with the amount of areas related to this topic, many Datsun owners and fans and about…

Just signed up and want to thank all the senders of the answers I will get to all my questions. I drove my father in laws 260Z for a summer in 1979 and fell in love. Have been looking ever since for the right opportunity to get one. Just found one in my town one day for sale, 58,000 miles and stored for over 20 yrs. I had to get it! My son in law and I are getting it going, he's a Chevy Nova nut but loves cars and it's great to have him helping me with this project, male bonding and all, my daughter loves to see us working together. We have it running , suprisingly very smooth. I have the 260Z fever now and can't get through the day without trying to do more work to it so…

Hello all! My name is Chris and I've got Z Fever! Been wanting an S30 for a long while and finally picked up two in one deal. Best one is a 77 4 speed car that was parked by the PO in 1991. Supposedly running car when parked just didnt drive it anymore. The other is a 78 5 speed car, total rust bucket. Still has lots of good parts but to much work to fix for me. I've been a Nissan tech at a dealer in Salisbury NC for nearly twenty years and am in the process of getting her running. After stripping the interior and lots of poking, scraping and grinding later I'm pretty happy with what I've found so far. Couple of small areas of rust in floor boards that can be fixed withou…

Hey everybody. This is Mike from the S.F. Bay Area in Cali. I've had my Z for awhile but recently got back into builder it. She's a 1971 240 Scarab clone, with a 327ci GM crate motor with a decent amount of internal work (roller rockers, pistons, etc. etc.). I'm actually working on selling this current setup because I want to go full Nissan with it. Looking at an SR20DET, possibly an RB20/25. So get ready for a flood of questions hahaha. I hope you guys can help me out when it's crunch time. Here it is!
