CLUB NEWS

Informational updates about our club, the website, and other details.  Feel free to post a question if you have one.

  1. Started by Mike,

Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I will be taking the club offline so we can move our data to a new machine. The existing machine is running an operating system that is EOL in a month. Like with all technology, there comes a point where we must adapt for the future. Our new machine is prepped and ready to go. It's simply waiting for me to take some time to get in and make the move. As we do the move to our new machine, you may notice a few bugs here and there. Please let me know about these bugs by filing a support ticket. This is the best way I know how to track the issues if I miss anything. As with these kinds of technology swaps, there may be some…

@Mike, I noticed this last night. After opening this site, I clicked on Activity, and it looked to load everything since the last time I visited. I clicked on Load More Activity. In the past, it would list more posts. Now, it doesn't do anything. I checked the site later in the evening and clicked on Activity. Nothing was listed, and again, Load More Activity did nothing. Has some setting changed?

  3. Started by Mike,

Hi all, Today I reverted the website design to our 'Basic' theme by default. The design was impressive regarding how it worked. It was also very beautiful, however it impeded many things for me as an administrator. I'm going to run with the basic design by default for a month to see if it improves things. If you like the design, you can still set it to be your default theme. You can do this in the bottom of the page by selecting 'Theme' and changing it to 'Dynamic'... Thanks. Mike

  4. Started by Mike,

Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that file downloads are temporarily broken right now. For some reason the last update screwed up the files and they will show "file not found" when you click on them. I'm working on the issue and should have it resolved soon. Mike

  5. Started by Mike,

Hi all, Yesterday I added a google search bar in the header. This should give some added search capability that some of you have been asking for. Let me know if you have any issues with it. Thanks! Mike

  6. Started by Mike,

I just installed a fairly extensive update to the system today. Please let me know if you see any issues. Classifieds, links directory, Tapatalk, operating system (Linux), and the system core were all updated. Here are the release notes for the system core: Core Added support for PHP 7.4 Added support for [Emoji 12.0](https://emojipedia.org/emoji-12.0/) and [Emoji 12.1](https://emojipedia.org/emoji-12.1/) emojis Removed support for Gfycat embeds due to ongoing unaddressed security concerns on their end. Adjusted advertisement CSS classes to use a dynamic class name. Added a reset to the "upgrade in progress" flag when the upgrade…

  7. Started by Mike,

One of the recent updates we made to the site is to show our forums as "cards" to make it easier to read. If you do not like the default view showing these cards, you can always revert back to the list view. This can be done using a setting at the top of the main forum page. It looks like this: See that selector next to the "Start new topic" button on the right? You can swap between the two different views. If you are logged in, and have cookies enabled, this will remember your setting and it will appear like this every time you log in. The setting I have enabled above is the cards view. Here's what it looks like when changed to the list view: …

  8. Started by Mike,

Hi all, I am in the middle of researching different ads to raise money for the site. At the moment, our typical ad placement on the site have dropped significantly enough to make me look at more options. I'll be running this experiment over the next few days. I will be looking at various different options, so you may things shifting around a bit as I work through a solution that will be the least annoying and relevant to our club. Mike

  9. Mike @Mike it's neat that you were able to hoover up all of the images from the $310K 240Z but you have wiped out recent activity on the 24 Hour page. Anybody who posted something in the last few days has had their stuff vanished from the "Topics Last 24 Hours" page. Is there any way to get images off of the Topics page. Many of us just get on the site and click that link. The problem with the other activity link is that it shows each post. So one thread can dominate if its very activity. The Active Topics page really should have each individual image as a Topic. Maybe you can recategorize them all as a single Topic so that they only occupy one spot on the page…

  10. Started by Mike,

I had to pull the site offline on March 1, 2020 to run some maintenance. It looks like the main hard disk was full due to our monthly backups taking up too much space. I was led to the problem when Zed Head posted that he could not attach an image to a post. I attempted to upload my own image and saw the error. Soon after the problem occurred, I saw that other errors suddenly started to appear. After reviewing the hard disk information, it was at 99% capacity. I looked for the largest directories, and discovered that we had monthly backups since June 2019 stored on the same drive. Each backup is approximately 150MB in size. So, I deleted some older backups an…

  11. Started by Zed Head,

The posts have no numbers. Hard to direct someone to a specific post. @Mike
