I have a set of very slightly used triples on my Z. I discovered while trying to adjust the idle mixture screws, that the very tips of 4 of these have seated themselves in the body of the carbs, and have broken off. It appears that the PO might have overtightened them. I am able to completely remove all of the screws. It is the tips (about the diameter of a paper clip) that are stuck. My attempts to remove them have proven unsuccessful. If I play with them anymore, I fear I will do damage. Does anyone have experience with this? If needed, I'll ship them off to a pro. Thanks for your help!

I need my starter to start my car by this weekend. It has other plans though. With vigorous beatings it will start turning the car over. Does anyone know how to open one of these dammed things? I need to at least try and fix this one as I'm not sure when the local flaps will get one in. So anybody got an idea? Are other ones that will work in it's place that the local shops might carry?

This is info from several Z car related FB pages: Owner reports his 1972 240 was stolen from a train station parking lot in Attleboro, MA. Please, everyone, be on the lookout for the car or anyone selling parts. WHITE 1972 Datsun 240Z

I have just bought a datsun 280z 77 for $1000 just down the road from me, it has some damage to the headlight and front bumper, but nothing major and of course it doesn't look great. But it starts and runs and I am so excited to be fixing it up. I think I got a good price at 1K, it looks rough, but underneath someone else's white paint job it is my favourite z blue colour and it is a genuine 2 seater. The sound it made and the acceleration were impressive!! Any tips on what to do first would be greatly appreciated, the bumper and light cone first I guess, but a basic list of things to swap out would be very helpful. I will be fixing it myself, I don't think it is a lemon…

The steering wheel in my 1971 Z has developed an annoying, irritating rubbing/squeeling sound when I turn the wheel at low speeds. Any idea what this is and how to fix it? I recently installed a new turn signal switch. Is it possible this is the cause of the problem?

Hey guys, i'm working on a 77 280z that I just got the longblock back from the rebuilder. Problem is, they didn't put the front cover back on, so I don't know which way the worm gear goes on. Does the bevel side go on facing in or out? I assume that the big dished washer goes on the outside with the depression facing the worm gear? I'm stuck till I get this resolved, then I hope to get it up and running by the weekend! Thanks

Howdy, New member. I have a 78 280z without factory air and heater will not get hot. I have replaced the thermostat and checked all operating controls and vent flaps. They all seem to be working. Any suggestions?

I replaced by rack and pinion last weekend. Its a rebuilt unit from carsteering.com. As far as I know it's a genuine OEM original part but just rebuilt. I assume dimensions of the rack are original at this point. When I assembled everything back together the tires are visibly toe out and the adjustments on the rack are bottomed out. There is a good 5 threads or so visibly exposed on the inner tie rod thread. (see pic) (both left and right side are consistent) Looking at the old rack, it looks like I had cut the threads down to make it all fit, but can't remember why I did exactly that. It's been too long.!!! Maybe for this exact problem...I just cant remember. I had rep…

Just wondering if the geometry of the throttle plate on DCOE's, SKs, Mikufies, etc is such that there is no side-to-side play when the plates are closed but there is if the plates are open? Is this a sign of wear? I'm seeing this on my SK's but not on a brand new 55DCO so it is strange. The SK's seal tight (confirmed with a liquid and light test) so it is hard to understand wear being a cause. I am wondering if the plates need to be adjusted right or left relative to the shaft as when I open the SK's, I note the throttle shaft travels to one side smoothly then when closing, it returns the other way to its original condition...thus the throttle plate always travelli…
