My z will start and idle, run a few seconds and die. If I punch gas it dies immediately. If I feather gas I can make it scream. To date I have replaced, wires, plugs, cap, and button. AFM, throttle body position switch, fuel filter and battery. Have not yet checked fuel pressure. Please anyone.........

Well I got the new speedo pinion gear, oil seal and O ring, put them on/into the housing and guess what? The housing won't go back into the tranny! I've got it sitting in the freezer until tomorrow, any other suggestions as how to put this B***H back in will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mike

I have a 1976 stock 280z. I'm trying to get my blower fan working. I opened the fuse box today and found a broken clip on the A/C fuse. How do I find a replacement and would that make the blower not work?

L28 engine with triple SK/OER carbs, running beautifully last fall. Transplanted the engine into 1970 240z using the same ignition setup. Have not altered timing or carb adjustment. I did adjust the valves but only a couple were out. When I start the engine I have to floor it to keep it going, if I let rpms get under 4000 it dies with back firing through the carbs, new RX7 fuel pump working fine. Help please. Thanks, Chris

73 240z automatic e88 head The head on my 73 is most likely warped or cracked. I bought it this way. Tried to replace the head gasket and it still leaks coolant into a cylinder. I ordered a complete head from a parts yard, that i intend on replacing my damaged on with. My question is: can i replace the head in the same manner that i removed the previous one (wedging the chain at TDC) ? Or do i have to remove the front cover and start over with setting the timing?

Hey guys, is there another name for Auxiliary air valve? (1976 280z) I called up few of the local parts store and they "looked" at me funny as if Auxiliary air valve doesn't exist...just because it's not in their system.

My speedo quit working the other and I noticed some oil around the pinion gear. I tried to loosen the speedo cable and the pinion gear just pulled out of the tranny because the little ear piece was loose and ahd turned. I know there are O rings and seals for the gear and the cable, but can't find and diagrams to show where they go, the only one I know for sure( also the only one I found) is the O ring around the gear holder. I need to replace the black gear as its sorta chewed up. The tranny is a 79 Z 5 speed and the cable is the stock 75. I need a diagram of some sort to know what goes where and I can't find it in the FSM. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hello all This past tuesday my lovely Z (who I'm thinking of calling Christine at this point) died on my way to school. She wouldn't start (kept cranking over but not starting). Today I finally got around to working on her. I pulled the coil wire off from the dizzy and held it to the intake manifold while my friend cranked the motor. Nothing, no spark that I could see. So my question is this, what exactly controls spark on the Z, is it the coil itself or does the dizzy somehow tell the coil when to fire? I have an 81ZX dizzy (matchbox) in the car as I updated it a few months ago (great upgrade for reference). Thanks Jan

Hey everyone, I bought my 240z a few months ago and ran into some fuel problems. I was getting a lot of junk clogging my fuel filter and I had a small leak from my fuel filler hose so I decided to drop the gas tank and redo the entire fuel system. I replaced all the hoses, lines, fuel filter, restored the fuel tank and I got a new mechanical fuel pump. I just put everything together and I'm having trouble getting the car to start. Basically after reconnecting everything I needed to get the lines to refill with gas so I figured if I poured some gas in the carb float chambers the car would run for about 30 seconds and refill everything and I'd be good to go. Looking for some help with my Z: 1973 240 automatic, Weber DGV carbs Idles on the choke only. Will start with the choke off but dies within a few seconds. Replaced bad HG New valve cover, intake and exhaust gasket Drained fuel Changed fuel filter New spark plugs new oil, filter and coolant Changed what vacuum lines where left (most of the emission stuff was gone) Checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner, didn't find anything Compression looks OK Distributor is not locked down, wires to the thermostat are cut Any suggestions on where to go from here?
