1978 280z: My Z fuel pump was pumping air. It seems like the metal fuel line inside the tank is rusted maybe. I reversed the fuel line with the return line. The car starts and runs much better. Are they any negative effect to this? How could I repair the fuel line? Thanks

Hi I'm going to try and crank my Z and get it running again. I have all new fuel hoses, a new fuel pump, fuel filter. I did the Z Therapy carburetor rebuild. I had the gas tank boiled out and sealed. The car is definitely getting spark. Is there a way I can check to see that fuel is getting through the carbs and into the engine without cranking the car? And is there any other advice or things I should do before I try and get the car started? Thanks Will

So i had a chance to have my spare engine rebuilt from a friend that is in an automotive class. the engine is from a 77 280z. using arp bolts, new bearings, valve job, hot tanked the block then paint... the whole 9 yards (and his grade depends on doing a good job) all for only the cost in parts. the issue is a part vanished from his parts bin at school in the block is a baffle plate and cylinder block net (see pic, taken from manual) both are nowhere to be found, and he is in final assembly i found this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?32932-Need-help-finding-for-the-quot-net-quot-material.....&highlight=engine+baffle+net that mentions…

I'm not sure what I did but I have my heater control assembly apart to install an aftermarket stereo and when I went to put it all back together I found that my blower motor won't work. I can't find any power going through the switch itself so I'm guessing that it controls the ground side. When I check at the motor only getting .15 volt at the red wire. I must have disconnected something but can't find it for the life of me. Any ideas? Thanks, Devin

My '73 has body side molding running from the fender to the rear quarter. The car is white and the molding is red. I see pictures of 240z's with, and without the molding. Is this molding correct? Was it on all cars? Was it an option? Thanks

Forgive me if this post is a little vauge, the weather and lack of garage has made it impossible to do any real work on it.. The last time it drove wouldve been Sunday the 23rd. I got off work around 11pm, it started just fine, and I drove home with no problems. It was probably around 20-32 degrees, much like today, and to keep it running I am having to keep it choked (im sure thats a problem of its own with the carbs) . Anyway, out of curiousity, I turned off the choke, and the car slowly died. The next morning, itd snowed like crazy. I went to get it started, and it wouldn't. I realized my choke was still off, so I pulled back the handle and it broke off but the lev…

Would anyone happen to have the front fender inner support panel for sale. It's the ribbed piece on the rear of front fender close to where the door hinges are. I need the bottom part. The bottom 16 inch part is spot welded to the top. My old ones are completely rusted. I made one but I'm not sure how it conforms at the bottom (rocker panel). Should it be water tight at bottom to keep water from rocker panel. Does gasket go the whole way down? I need both sides, but one will do. Anyone have a picture? 71 240Z. Thank you very much, TimsZ

I pulled the injectors to send in for ultrasonic cleaning and decided that leaving the ports open wasn't a good idea, so I crumpled up a bit of foil for each port to block them off. OOPS ! One piece was a little too small and slid into the port and disappeared into the guts of the L28. It is about the size of a jelly bean and my mechanic says it will probably just blow through when i crank the engine because it is foil. I am somewhat skeptical and have visions of a bent valve, but I'm not real crazy about trying to pull off an intake manifold either. I am a dentist, not a real gearhead like some of you guys. What says the peanut gallery ? Fire it up and pray when th…

I been trying to get this poor z running right again. I just installed a thermostat housing and got everything plugged back in and its idling funny and farting. Today I installed new plugs and its still running the same in the video. Sounds kind of like a vacuum leak but I can't see anything. The car has been down for about 3 months. I was thinking maybe it is the AFM?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
