I have a 73z with round top carbs. The coolant lines somewhere behind the intake sprung a leak about 6 months. So I bypassed the lines. The problem is that I bought coolant caps from my local autoparts store and they keep bursting. I have had 3 break now. So I thought that I would just get a piece of hose and stick a bolt in the end and clamp it. This also didn't work. It just leaked no matter how tight I got it. By now most of you are thinking just take the whole pipe off. But the end of it has my temp sensor for the electric fans. So does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this from leaking. Thanks Nick

I'm in the process of repairing a 260z distributor and found it was all rusted up, all stuck together. Now that I got it apart and cleaned up, although I was very careful on how I laid the parts out, I'm not sure how the parts having to do with the advance plate mechanism line up. I've had to replace all six ball bearings and don't see how the plates line up that sandwich the bearings. The factory manual doesn't show these details. I found a tutorial on a 280z distributor, but the parts don't match the 260z. I have a 240z distributor but it's parts don't match either. Not that it matters, this distributor has two pick-up coils. Not an emergency, but it is the only thin…

I have a nice 280z car, blue 510 color. Too bad its sick and not running correctly. I have been reading these forums, and see lots and lots and lots of things that could be causing it. I have 3 separate mechanics talking to me about it, and some of them are not in agreement about what the problems are. Some say fuel injectors, wiring connections, fuel pump, low compression (and therefore need new piston rings, so they say they might as well rebuild it while they are at it)...etc .... I am in a tug of war here...stuck in the middle of all this. I am not complaining, but would like to get moving in the right direction. I owned a 300 zx for 10 years. And drove a blue 1984…

well last night my rocker arms fell off and the cam has a slight scar on it i have a couple of questions. 1 dose the slight scar matter and if so what do i do? 2 i have 2 heads e88 and i have a n47 on the car its a 78 280z im not sure if there is any gain from that or can i just switch cams from one of the other heads im not sure what to do? yea i have a lot of problems the trans is also not shifting right but i still have to trouble shoot it but any ideas or in put is welcomed. just got it back from the body shop what a weekend

I just got my short block back from the machine shop. He installed flat top pistons that have valve reliefs. At TDC, the piston top is 0.009" higher than the block deck. Is this acceptable on an early L24. He took 0.005" off of the deck and the head. :paranoid: Thanks, Mike:ermm:

Hey was up guys I'm new to the forums and I know this is the best site when it comes for Zs. So I have a problem with the car dieing on me when I let go of the acceleration. This morning I headed to work with no problem I stoped by the gas station and everything was fine. So on my way back home I let the car warm up about 7 mins and as I took off this problem occured. Any advice thanks
