I tried to install a pilot bushing into an l24, but the bushing was too big to fit. From what I’ve found, the l26 and l24 use the same pilot bushing, but the bushing that came with my clutch kit doesn’t fit my l24, but does appear to fit my l26 (the l26 still has the pilot bushing in it, but the new one appears to be the same size.) If someone can tell me what’s wrong with this picture, I’d very much appreciate that! I’d like to drive my Z again! I measured the pilot bushing and the end of the l24 crankshaft Incase it helps. Crankshaft id .783 inches Bushing od .813 inches Im pretty confident that there isn’t already a bushing in the end of the c…

I have a 1976 280z. This was the gas tank that was installed. I pulled it out to install an fbody plastic tank for my LS swap. I know there was a difference between early and late 280z tanks. Can anyone tell me how to confirm which tank this is? Also what would something like this be worth? It's in great shape.

I recently bought a 1979 280zx as my first project car. While waiting on some other parts to ship I decided to replace the headlight bulbs to see if they were just burnt out. After replacing them they still won't turn on. What is my next step? I bought a headlight relay but that won't fit in the relay box under the hood. There are also some relays behind the glovebox but I'm not sure which is which. I'm brand new to cars so any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey, so I finally got the car running after some AFM adjustment, still need to timing and final tuning, but today after starting the car, I realized there is a coolant puddle forming, I did not catch this till today. It’s been running well for only 3 days, the car just had a new upgraded radiator and coolant change done. Im not sure if its a head gasket, or a simple leak fix I could really use some help on diagnosing the problem. The coolant is dripping just above my starter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Several years ago I bought a pair of Spicer u-joints for one of my half shafts, I'm pretty sure I bought them from Black Dragon (may have even still been Victoria British at the time). I now want to replace the ones on the other half shaft and the drive shaft. Is Spicer still a great choice? If so can someone help me determine which one to get (I cannot find any of my old paperwork to pull part numbers from). On the ones I have I can see some blue on them if that helps identify what I have to match new ones to.

I thought I could wiggle the diff out of the Z without removing the front diff cross member...looks like I am wrong. I have the car up on jack stands as you can see in the pictures and I can easily remove the front diff cross member by removing the two bolts in the red circles. My question is.....is this safe or will the car fall on me and kill me? My concern is that the jack stands are under the control/a-arms as shown in the pix and removing the diff front cross member appears to them leave the front mounting point (yellow arrows) of the control/a-arms loose...this makes me quite nervous as I don't care to die doing this project. 😉 Can anyone please help…

Well I had the car running for a week or so then I did a radiator change and starter change so the car sat for about 2 weeks. Now the car has always needed starting fluid to get up and running on cold starts, but now the car only runs with starting fluid, once the fluid burns out, it dies and won’t start. I just put in a new walbro 255 fuel pump, and yes it primes, I disconnected the pump solenoid and it is priming, I’m not sure why its not getting any fuel. We have 6 injectors given to us by the previous owner they check out with the multimeter, I would need to clean them beforehand, I can install them to see if that will help . But I’m currently at a stop with no real i…

Hello, I have a 1978 280z with a dead starter so I removed it and began to look for a replacement. Although the fitment makes me hesitant on which to get. The starter I removed looks identical to a 1977 280z starter but when searching on online stores it says a 1977 starter will not fit a 1978 280z. Now the pictures of the 1978 starter do not look like they will fit my 1978 the mounting is reversed almost along with no cone, I may be overthinking this and it may seem like a stupid question but is there a difference? The first photo is from autozone, the second from zcardepot and the final is my starter. And this is the 1978 280z starter, with no cone and with…

Used 1982 Datsun 280ZX 2+2 Does the L28 have to torque to break traction easily? And if not should i rip out the back seat to help (-Weight) or add more weight to the rear...This is my first try at a drift car but I've dreamed of having either a 240z or 80z drift car since i saw my first one.

I have sand and dirt between the rubber gasket (shim?) and the glass that I would like to clean. Is this as straight forward as it seems? Anything to watch out for putting it back together? Thanks! Steve

So I posted a while ago about some high idle issues I'd been grappling with. I still have a bit of an issue, but I think I've found where it's happening. I have a 240z with an L28 Engine block, a P90A cylinder head, and SU round-top carburetors. I took some pictures and videos of what's going on: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xft1yprkDfB7egaW6 I still have to dial the timing in. I think I might have a slight vacuum leak between the intake manifold and the cylinder head. I sprayed some carb cleaner around that area and the RPMs increased a bit. Is it okay that I have this intake manifold with the SU carbs on the P90A head? I've also removed the fuel rail and the…

Hello, thanks to the help of the many fine gentlemen on this forum, my 280z seems to be running decent now. After doing various tests the car seems to run decent, timing needs to be done along with a new starter(positive wiring wiggles causing a poor connection). I also ended up finding one major issue which was a bad fuel pump after upgrading to a walbro 255 the car does not die anymore. Sadly the car does having a ticking noise which seems to my dad to be loud injectors, but I presume a worn rocker arm. I need thoughts on the noise the first link is where the engine is running horrible due to what I believe to be it choking for fuel, right after the pump install the eng…
