Quick question. I have a mustache bar that I believe to be for an r200. My car doesn’t have an r200, i have no need for this bar at this time, but I do want the new bushings that this bar has and I’m pretty sure that their the two piece style so they should be able to be pulled out. So the question is, is the diameter of the bushing slot the same as the bar in my stock 260z? (r180) I think they’re the same, I’d just like to confirm before I take the rear end apart (again) that I will be able to put these bushings in the 260z mustache bar.

Hi all First off I'd like to say this is a great forum and it's helped me a lot! This problem though I couldn't find in the search.... So I have a 1978 z pretty much all stock and it's been sitting in the garage for almost 30 years. I've been working on it the past month. I'm switching out a cheap fuel pump I put in just to see if I could get it up and running. It did but fuel pressure is low. I really think the pump is gummed up, the gas was nasty in the tank and even after siphoning it out I think everything is just coated with gunk. So anyway, I'm jumping the cold start vale terminal to depressurize the line, which I have done over the past month without an i…

Background: 260Z with a 2.8L engine, Maxima 2.4L head, ZX ignition, GM TBI fuel injection with SU carburetors converted to throttle bodies The car ran fine last Saturday. I pulled it out of the garage and parked it back in the garage about an hour later. I don't recall anything strange happening. Yesterday, I took off the distributor cap to take some pictures of the coolant temperature sensor. I put the cap back on after I finished taking pictures. Today: I went to start the car. I primed the fuel pump (audible) and tried starting. When it didn't fire, I thought to check the coil wire to the cap. I tried again with the coil wire connected, but it still…

I have been in the process of doing a lot of brake work and was working on replacing the brake booster and master cylinder today. Once the old units were out of the car I was able to get a good look at the clutch master and I'm concerned. First off, the reservoir is bone dry, then it looks a little rough around the master cylinder and lastly it looks like it may have been leaking on the inside of the car. It is really hard to tell since the brake master cylinder seems to have been leaking based upon the condition of the under side of the booster and the inside of the firewall. Pix of everything below. What do you guys think?

Hello, A few days ago I removed my valve cover to see how things are looking under there (currently restoring the car) and found that my camshaft looks really bad. Can it be saved? the oil also smells like fuel quiet bad and since I live in Germany It would be hard to get another engine if the bottom end was also bad because the car was run without oil pressure or something.

As I prepare to replace my clutch master cylinder I thought of a question. What fluid should we be using for the clutch system in our Z cars? Just regular old brake fluid? I've got a couple bottles of Red Line RL-600 full synthetic brake fluid DOT4 that I'm going to put in the brake system...is that good for the clutch system also?

Okay so my 1978 280z has a 5 speed transmission (not sure what year), has always made noise in 1st and 2nd gear when not pressing on the throttle (kinda soundings a little like a grinding and maybe whining noise). When the clutch is pressed in, no noise, if I am on throttle, no noise. Only makes noise 1st and 2nd gear when coasting (no throttle applied) and you can kinda feel it not coasting smoothly but once again only in these two gears. Based on the symptoms and pictures I provided, are my bearings or synchros bad? Asking before I pull trans for rebuild with the rebuild kit from zcardepot or if I should just buy a new trans since I am unsure if a rebuild will solve thi…

Hi guys, Is it possible for worn/torn vapor tank floor grommets to be the culprit for exhaust fumes in the cabin? If the holes were on the exhaust pipe side, I'd say I've finally found my leak but these hoses/grommets are on the passenger side of the car. (Note: I have changed the inner/outer hatch gasket, glass seal, taillight gaskets, sealed the hatch's vinyl panel, and sealed the hatch grommets) I can also see light through the accordion-style grommet that seals the fuel filler hose to the car but obviously can't glue that shut like the other I found - is that accordion bit replaceable?
