Hello! my first time searching for electrical gremlins so I have come to get some advice on the best way to start troubleshooting this issue now that I have checked off the basics. a while back my taillights and dash lights went out, my side markers are also not working. My headlights went out shortly after that. I checked the fuses to find that they all have continuity, and pulled off the steering column cover to find the red wire going to the headlight switch had come loose. After soldering that back on the headlights resumed working but the rest of my lights still do not work. I have read that the green wire on the switch is in control of these interior and…

Hi guys, While taking the car out today, everything was running great until I went to wide-open throttle. After about 20 feet, the car flat out died and refused to start. The car was low on gas, so after pushing it to a gas station and refilling it, it started right up 3x in a row and was able to drive it home. I just went down to try and start it and it is now dead. I pulled the coil wire off of the distributor cap and grounded it against the body - and it seems I am not getting any spark now. I used a multimeter to poke the 2 coil poles and got less than 1.8ohms so according to the FSM it means the coil isn't bad. Any ideas as to where I should start …

Hello, Im new to this forum, I have a 1975 280Z 4 speed which will crank and start but only for a second or 2, if I apply any throttle, it just immediately dies, and sometimes to keep it running, I have to hold the key to make it run longer until it just eventually dies anyway, Ive put in a new rust free fuel tank, all new rubber fuel hoses from rear to front, new fuel pump, blew compressed air through all of the steel lines including the fuel rail, replaced injectors with new ones, new fuel pressure regulator, new fuel filters (one in engine bay and one in line next to the fuel tank and fuel pump), new battery, new cold start injector, new thermotime/water temp sensor,…

I haven't tried it yet, but by first impressions, It's going to be tight. The bushing for the transverse link seem very tight, and the spindle pin through the bushing seems really tight too. When I say tight, I mean I don’t think they’ll fit. Has anyone successfully done this?

Can someone confirm which relay is used for the accessories on a 1973 240z. The wiring diagram that I have been using shows 3 blue wires. The 73 service manual shows the accessory relay harness as a 3 pin harness with 3 blue wires. One of my relays has 3 wires, it is of course bad. Its part number is 25230 89914. Internet search indicates that this is for the intermittent wipers. I have upgraded my wipers and no longer use the original relay. I have a relay available that I believe is part number 25230 89924. I think this is a headlight relay. I probably could use this in place of the accessory relay, it is a 4 pin relay so I might have to jumper one of the coil…

Hi, I almost didn’t make it all the way home today since my 240z -73, 5 spd, now runs terribly bad! ? it sort of looses all power/fuel (?) pressure, the Roms drop and then milliseconds later picks up again. please see the attached video!! I suspect the issue arose after I left the car outside during a Rainy night, however that might just conincide with the issue... Anyhow, first it just dropped power a couple of Times during a 30 min drive, but since then it has only been worse, and now I can barely drive it. And then it works fine for a couple of minutes, then back to worse. Anyone with a clue where to start? I quite recently (been driving 20h plus si…

I was able to source 1 clip from the web but that’s all I can find. Probably a week or so before it arrives. Does anyone have any of these clips that hold the bottom of the finishing panel down? Hopefully I can find or fabricate something that will work if I can’t find any more of them.

Hello, I am new to Z's and this forum. I have a 240Z build date 7/70. Is this dash, or dash plus frame, or just frame interchangeable with other dashs from 70 to 73? I've tried searching for this answer without success. Thank you very much. Mike

My car is a 1973 240Z with 3 screw round top carbs, and a Crane Fireball XR 700 ignition (optical pickup). All emissions control stuff was removed/plugged by the PO. I haven't driven it much over the past 1.5 years, for various reasons. One reason was it randomly died, then just as randomly would restart and run fine. I traced that to a float valve that randomly stuck closed. Solved that problem, then decided I should give it a tune-up. Replaced cap, rotor and plugs, checked valve adjustment, and set the timing. Then balanced the carbs using a unisyn (badly out of balance) and set the mixture as best that I could using a Colortune. The distributor's vacuum and me…

I have 1971 240Z (7/71) and the shifter boot (inner and outer) is completely missing. I see some videos that show the boot ring (retainer), but I'm thinking there may not be a ring for the Series 1. Am I correct that I only use clips to secure the outer boot cover? Any help is appreciated.

Hello, so I was cleaning my turn signal switch and happen to break the circuit board as I was trying to pry it open to clean the contacts. is there any way I can repair this? Any type of conductive adhesive I can apply? What type of services could be able to restore this piece? I would gladly buy this piece as well if anyone is selling it! I have attached a few photos here as well. Thanks!

1975 280Z, I bought it two months ago and I just starting to sort it out. The car appears to be fairly stock, in other words, not heavily modified. The previous owner does not have a lot info about the car, it seems he bought the car from someone in Mississippi who did the rebuild and body work. The car starts and runs fine, but it has konked out on me twice. After the car is warmed up, and having driven it for 30 plus minutes, if I drive the car hard, it's starts to stumble, and then it will turn off as I shift gears. When I put it back in gear it runs again. I can keep it going that way for 10 minutes or so before I have to pull over and park it. So I …
