Help! I have a 72 240z and the fuel filter in the engine bay is 1/4 full.. under the filter line and wont fill. Just installed a new electric fuel pump and filter, new braided fuel line and a new filter before the mechanical pump but the pressure seems low and it's not filling. As the pump turns on you can see bubbles in the filter (in the engine bay). Question is could there be air in the line? Do i need to bleed a fuel line? Car is hesitating when driving, constantly jerking like its starving for fuel. What could be causing this? Anyone experience this before? Note: Gas tank is half full. Electric fuel pump is 4-7PSI. Got the tank c…

I have a 1/71 production date 240Z that has major front end damage so I'm shopping around for a front clip. My question is what differences are there between the different years and when were those differences? Example, I'm looking at a 6/71 build and wondering if there were changes made from 1/71 to 6/71? My 1/71 has all the expected series I items such as the latching fuel door, no vents in the rear quarter/pillar, etc.

Hi all, I've reinstalled my wiper motor & linkage after cleaning & rust proofing the area under the cowel on my '72 240Z. But now my wipers are turning backwards! When I turn them on, they begin with a counter-clockwise rotation (when view from the front bumper). They want to wipe the cowel. Has anyone run into this? I figure that I either assembled the linkage in correctly, or switched the polarity somehow... huh. Any other hypotheses, sage advice? Thanks as always!

Hello! Long time stalker, first time talker. I hope this is thorough, and let me know if there is something missing. 1978 280z Basically, my car is acting lean. Front firing from the afm... I'll tell you how I got here, what i've done, and any seemingly relevant questions I can’t seem to get an answer on. Been chipping away at getting this car running well for a bit, passed smog (CA) last year. Car was running pretty good minus a rich issue. I was modifying the car back to stock (previous owner put larger injectors/a number of things). We are friends, so I was aware of these changes. Savvy Porsche guy leaned me out to pass smog car ran great all…

Rebuilding a smog pump. Wanting to confirm details. The back casting of the pump looks as if it was black. The pulley, mounting bracket, and adjustment arm Datsun engine blue. Can someone confirm this for me. Also this is all of the parts getting ready for paint, and plating next a set of hoses. I will post more as this project progresses. Thanks PS I am still looking for a confirmed source for the Datsun blue engine paint, not something close but the real deal. If you look closely at the photo I have not blasted the adjustment arm yet, it has a good clean coat of the original paint for comparison.

I have a 71 240 that I’ve recently replaced all bushings, bearings and installed coilovers. When driving I can hear a thumping every time the wheel revolves except when I’m on the brakes, then the noise goes away. I’ve replaced the shoes and the drum brake hardware. The lug nuts get crazy hot on the right rear wheel where the noise comes from) from after about 10 mins of driving. Much hotter then the left (no noise side) The car stops fine. I don’t think it’s a bearing issue because the noise goes away when I’m breaking. Ther have been times mid drive when the thumping disappears but it always returns. I’ve taken the wheel off and inspected the drum and dust cover.…

Its been a while since I have posted on this site. Hope everyone is doing well. I have been trying to fab a choke cable lever bracket with no success. This is the bracket that mounts under the center console. There is a single slot in my console. There are different brackets, series one does not fit my setup. As I understand it a 1972 – 1973 240z or a 260z choke lever bracket will work. I know this from experience as I have already bought a series one before I found out it would not fit. I would like to either: borrow a bracket so that I can copy it, or buy a bracket at a reasonable price. As always thanks in advance for your assistance. Regards, q

I'm in the process of refurbishing my 240Z taillights and have run into a problem. The Philips screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel all came out easily on one side, but two of the screws on the other side just spin, so I can not take the light out. Has anyone had this issue and solved it without damaging taillight housing?

I'm going to try an provide as much information as possible. I've had my 280z for about two years now and for the most part has driven very good besides having a high idle most of the time and constantly having to adjust the idle screw in the mornings to raise the rpms then lower rpms after driving car for awhile. I live in California LA btw. Recently I did a good amount of work to the z Last week me and my friend replaced the spark plugs, readjusted valves, installed a new fuel filter and fuel line that connected below the fuel filter, new upper coolant line and coolant. Now the other thing we did was my car had a broken temp sensor stuck in the thermostat ho…

I just bought the stainless brake line kits and the fuel line and the fuel return for my 9 of 1971 240z, but there is one extra line that runs from the rear to the engine compartment. I have 4 lines that run along the trans for my 240z, the main brake line that runs to the master cylinder, a fuel line to the filter and a fuel line to the other side of the engine im assuming the fuel return, but there is also one smaller line that also runs to the fuel filter and connects to another hose, would this be the Fuel Vapor line? on all the places to buy a fuel vapor line they say only for a 72 but mines a 9 of 71 so i wasnt sure if i need this fuel vapor line too

Is there only one “L” shaped flange support bracket on the oil pan, or are there supposed to be two? I checked FSM, but couldn’t find it.
