Hello, I'm having trouble sourcing these parts and was wondering if somebody happened to have some laying around by chance and would like to sell them. I just need the lever and knob portion of the choke, and the bracket for the fuel filter that goes on the passenger fender. Thank you in advance!

I had my engine rebuilt about 7 years ago. Since then I have to adjust (move ) the dist. all the way to the drivers side to make it run correctly. In the middle of the adjustment range it runs like sh*t.Some back history - the timing tab may not be correct as the crank pulley never lined up to zero at TDC- however I recently got the crank pulley rebuilt and now at TDC it seems to point to zero. In any case my issue is that the rebuilder used some lame aftermarket chain sprocket at the cam that does not have the V to associate the - mark to. In addition it does not seem they put the brass link associated to the #1 dimple or any dimple at TDC the brass link is a few inches …

Bought a 85 300zx base model with 96k miles. Ran decently for 2 months until the tranny blew. When I drained her I saw multiple teeth, a washer, a screw and shavings galore. I couldnt find any worthwhile transmissions to purchase so I decided to cut out the middleman and attempt to rebuild it myself. I'm only 19 and have been working on cars for less than a year so I can definetly learn it but I need some guidance as to where I should look for learning material and if there is anything in particular I should know before I start dissembling. My tranny is already out and I split it from the bell housing and where the stick shift is. Thanks in advance. Also a bearing go…

Just purchased a replacement pump motor, as the original motor is too weak to spray fluid anymore, even after replacing the tubing. How does the old motor come out of its rubber holder? Been dripping penetrating oil around the motor. Does the rubber holder need to be removed from the fluid reservoir first? The rubber isn't very pliable. Searched the forums repeatedly, found lots of posts about purchasing a replacement motor, no advice found on how to physically remove/replace it. Maybe I didn't use the correct search terms. I've been using this forum a lot since buying a 71 and 72 240z this year, everyone has been super helpful. Thanks!

Ok, so I thought this was going to be a easy repair, but now I think I am missing something..... I have a Series 1 240z, with a ZX Five speed, and a L28. The car had been leaving a huge oil stain on the middle right side where ever it was parked. So , I put some cardboard under it, and it looked like it was leaking from the tranny and the pinion, and dripping down the speedo cable..... I got a new pinion from Nissan, checked to make sure it had o rings, which it did, stuck it in, refilled the tranny oil with Redline, and went for a drive..... NO Speedometer? I took the cable off the speedometer, and went for a drive, it did not spin. Stuck the old pinion on t…

My fuel pump has never run correctly in my 1977 280z. Currently, I get no voltage coming off the wires leading up to the fuel pump when I crank. I swear I've read voltage off those wires before, but one day during the process of rebuilding, it just stopped. So what i've done is hard wired the pump to the battery with a switch in the middle and that's it. Is there any problem with this method? I just flip the switch and let the fuel pump run while running the engine. Ideally, I would like to fix this. I've read things about the fuel pump safety switch getting stuck and cutting off power. Is there anything else I could look into? How would I test this switch?

I have the shell of my 240 at the body shop and I need to make a decision on the fenders. The right side has already been patched on the bottom and has a decent amount of rot and the left side is pretty much junk. I've been looking at possibly just getting replacement fenders but i'm not sure if anything out there is good. Z-car depot has fenders listed but they also state that they may not fit right. Ebay also has fenders but I'm guessing that they are the same as the ones Z-car depot sells. Z-car source offers "refinished" fenders which appear to be used fenders that they did some work to. Any thoughts? Thanks! Also- (poor quality) progress pics!

Hello all, My 280z will start and idle just fine, the idle is not bad. However, when I give it gas in neutral to rev the engine, the whole thing just shuts off and i have to turn the key again. Any suggestions on what's wrong with it?

Does anybody have any of the 6mm Philips/hex head door striker bolts they would be willing to part with? I need four bolts in decent shape- like the one in the pic. I'm getting anal with my restoration and I'd like the "correct" ones. Thanks!

I am 16 years old, and I have just acquired my driving permit. I am searching for a 280z as a first car. I have read up on many forum posts already and people have said that it is not a good car to start on as it is old and would require a lot of work and unsafe, but here is my situation. In my family we have a corolla that is in great working condition and it could be given to me as a car to learn to drive on and as my daily driver. People say to learn to drive on a safer car such as the corolla, but I want to acquire a 280z. Would it be wise to purchase a Z as a first car? I have the corolla I can always fall back to, so would it be smart to purchase? I have a bu…

https://offerup.com/item/detail/773520964/ This is the deal I have been looking at for the last few days. I've been planning to take a look at it. I have been chatting with the owner, he says the car has been sitting for quite some time. It needs the passenger windows/trim, door handles/locks, and a few interior pieces. We wouldn't be able to drive it home, and we wouldn't be able to give it a test drive because the gas tank is not installed on the car. He says he would be able to hook up an external gas tank to see if the car would run. The registration is backed up $400, but he said he would take care of it or take it off the price. I am also concerned about…

Hey mates Quick question. Is there any difference between the steering column covers between years (as in will a 240 one fit on a 280)? The lower section of my 76' was left in the Arizona sun (...yea smart on my part) and deformed to the point where its unusable. Thank you Jan
