Hi Everyone, Completely stumped on this one. So my engine was running completely fine since it's first start about a month ago and then suddenly it just stopped working all together. I have spark, I have fuel pressure, and there is fuel in the carb bowls. I figured it's an issue with the carbs so I pulled them and cleaned them up + did the basic rebuild, but still no luck. Pretty sure I set the floats correctly, center shutoff to 0.5" from the machined surface, and power valve pickup 1/32", but when the bowls fill up it goes well above the dot in the viewing window. is this normal? I tried pulling the power valve to service it, but couldnt get it to cra…

My 1977 280z needs a new fuel pump. There’s one that’s on the Datsun parts site for $70 and another on eBay for $30. I would love to just get by with the $30 one, but is that really what I want? They appear to be the same thing.

Looking for door cards for a 72 240. I have new white skins for my car. I have been told the original door cards are no good. Can I buy new black complete door panels and remove the black skin and put a white skin on it. If not, does anyone have a suggestion on a good interior shop that know the Z in order to get it rebuilt. I have 90% of the interior already bought. Thanks in advance. Also looking for 4 wheels that will take the original hub cap for a 72. I have the caps. In fact I have an extra set for sale

I wasn't sure where to post this and this is my second post in two days but this should be the "last" real big problem I'm dealing with after the rebuild of my engine. I honestly thought when this issue appeared that Google would have tons of information on this issue. Maybe my google-fu is getting worse but I can only find topics along the lines "hesitation after warm up, rough idle after warm up, etc." It seems like the only thing I could find similar was a guy having the same issue, but with his boat. Still gave it a read. The issue I'm having is that no matter where I set my RPMs it will always increase about 400-500 RPMs after warming up making it difficul…

Hello! I’m not sure if this is the place where I’d be posting about this, but I found an okay Datsun 240z for $4,000 off the site “http://www.eautostock.com/“ and was wondering if anyone has delt with them before and are they reputable or safe? I’ve done some research and I can only really see good reviews, but I just wanted some more input Incase y’all had any. They ship the car to me for a 10 day inspection period and if I like the car, I can buy it, if not I can decline the sale and they will take it back to there warehouse. Thank you guys and gals for any input on the site. ?

I've got a bad oil pan leak. Put my 72 240z on jack stands, removed all the fasteners, can't get the oil pan out to replace the gasket. Seems to be trapped by the rack & pinon steering mechanism. What's the method for getting the oil pan off? Thanks.

Please excuse the WTB post in this section, but I need to solve my problem quickly. It is my 666th post, after all. My painter decided to tell me today that the hood is waffled and needs to be replaced, oh and the paint is going on next week. They want me to get a replacement asap. Fixing it would take too much filler and money. You know, they lay down the money, and then the filler, and more money, and more filler, etc. I see a hood at The Maserati Compound and a bunch on eBay. I also see repos on Futofab and Z Car Depot. Usually I would want OEM, but I'm kind of inclined to go with the repo so I don't have to have anything fixed. It's going to cost more, but w…

Where to start? First off, my username didn't age well. Secondly, it's been years since I've bothered you guys but I need the help this time. I usually try to do as much as I can on my own before I bother you nice people and usually there is enough here already to fix most problems. I have read a lot on engine noise but I cannot pinpoint this one. A couple of years back my 1974 260z went through a rod bearing. The actual nut on the rod cap backed out while driving and you can guess what happened next. The motor then went through a rebuild about 7 months ago containing a new crankshaft, some new rods and pistons. Everything went pretty smoothly. Roughly about 6,000 m…

Hey, My z has lately been running rich. It smells okay but when I pull the plugs they have a decent amount of carbon buildup. I have gone through every component check in the EFI manual and can assure that all EFI components are working as they should. So I leaned out the car by tensioning the spring in the AFM, a lot. And it did get leaner but the plugs are still sooty. So I leaned it out more, and the car wants to die at idle. I then turned the AFM idle control screw clockwise to richen up the idle and it does nothing. It seems that the fix of my problems would be to just richen the idle but I can't seem to control that via the idle screw on the AFM. Any id…

I have my engine apart to replace the head gasket and timing cover gasket and I noticed today a small pin on the bench. I'm not positive it is from the engine but I have never seen it before. On the bench I have had the oil pump, head, timing cover, thermostat housing and the chain tensioner. It doesn't appear to have an oily film on it but It could have been cleaned while I have been cleaning parts and scraping gaskets. It has a black coating on it and has one small area that shows wear. Any thoughts?
