Now mind you that I am absolutly broke and could not afford a new Z if I wanted to. I was looking around, window shopping if you will, and ran upon a couple of VERY nice 280ZX cars. It certainly would be nice to have a playmate for my Z. I was thinking, fantasizing actually: Chevy 350 -w- T56 6-speed. Ram air. R230 rear end. [sigh] I know, I should be flirting with the idea. Probably shouldn't be listening to those guys at www.hybridz.org at all.

k, i have a 71 240Z, 280z engine. the only lights that work are: reverse lights headlights hazard lights glovebox light dome light my turn signals, tailights/brake lights, etc. don't work. I've double cheked the fuses in the box, they're all good. what could be wrong? also, my fuel gauge, tach, and speedo don't work (the clock doesn't work either, but whose 30 yr old Z clock does?!?). i've checked the wiring according to the haynes wiring diagram. If I switch the two black wires (from speedo and fro ign. sw.), either the car runs w/no tach, or there's no spark @ the coil. there's a spring-lookin thing coming from my speedo going to the underside of my dash.(...just had a …

If I let up on the gas, doing 60 or more mph, the car (70z with a 75 l28) backfires. I adjusted the carbs and this reduced, but did not eliminate, the problem. Suggestions? Thanks.

what the highest performance carb's for a stock 240?.... i want good reliable carbs....i read alot about weber because of my toyota....do they make carbs for datsun's too?....any links would be appreciated... Thanks in advance -Jake

Just looking for a little help here with my '75 280Z. I was coming home yesterday and on the last turn before my house, I pressed the brake. My petal starts going down slowly but down further than it has before and makes an audible hiss when pressed. I checked the fluid and both fluid conisters on the master cylinder were half full. I topped off and (I know silly but had no choice) drove to work this morning. It stops. Kinda. But takes me 4 times the distance to stop and makes a hiss whenever pressed. Master cylinder? Master Vac? Line? Help.

Well, my synchro in 2nd... the Z workshop in brisbane has quoted $240 for a single synchromesh :-/ Will a 5 speed from a 240K fit into the Z? What are my options?

Hi all, my 74 260 with SU's has been bogged down :-( Saturday when i turned off the choke a couple miles from work, lost all acceleration/power. Stopped & whacked the rear float bowl (the top was damp) and it ran fine the 26 miles home. Its rained the last 3 days (car stayed inside), this morning i brought out the Z, got about 3 miles and "here we go again". So i pull over, whack the bowls again, and take off, but still crappy power. Don't notice it at low speeds, but in 3rd & 4th gear at 3000-3500rpm, it acts like only half the engine is powering. I also noticed my amp meter jumped to +30, where it is normally just to the right of center? So i figure i'll che…

Can anyone help me? My 260Z 2+2 has just started playing up this weekend. Infrequently, I seem to be losing power and the engine seems to judder. If I put my foot down it judders some more. The car does not stall and if I put it in neutral and increase the revs the engine reaches a peak way before the red line (I think as my tacho is not reliable). Each time I have done this the problem eventually seems to sort itself out for a while. I have a feeling it may be fuel related. Yes, I have 'flat tops' but until this week they have been running well. Yesterday I scored an L26 complete with 5 speed and SU's for AUS$200 so the SU's will be transferred across later this week. I've been on here for the past month or 2 asking questions about all 3 diffent Z engines ( L24 L26 and L28 ) My story is like this for anyone who doesn't know.... I leav for basic training ( us army ) in 3 weeks, and when i get back, i will be getting a Z, just not sure which one =) Heres what im looking for, something i can turn into an awsome looking car ( 240 260 and 280 all fit here ) something i can perform my first engine re-buid on ( again all 3 ) something i can mod with all the neat stuff ive been reading on the web ( triple webers, converting FI to Carbs, putting in a new cam, headwork blah blah blah ) and something that will kick the living $!#@ out of my couz…

I am looking for a set of bullet style mirrors like the one pictured. I have found some on E-bay and from vintage car sites in England, but thought i'd try you guys to see if anyone knows if i can get these in the states.
