A few months ago I started this thread on this site but had to leave for school and couldn't work on the car. From this point, I have tested a few things and found at least one problem. Previously it was suggested to check the fuel pressure and after the engine dies it is still at 32 psi. Also in the previous post I mentioned the first time the car died like this was on the road after I clutched in, upon looking around the clutch pedal I found this red wire in the ECU loom that was worn away by the pedal. I haven't traced it yet so this could be part of the problem. Just to save a click here is the original problem post from me : I have a 1978 280z that I've recentl…

I'm hoping someone can help me in determining where specifically the wiring harness is attaches to ground in my 73 240Z. I don't mean a schematic, but where on the car physically the wire harness is connects to ground. This could be directly to the battery or maybe somewhere the harness is just grounded to the chassis, I'm not sure. Looking at the schematic it does appear there is a smaller wire connected directly to the battery but I'm not seeing this on the wiring harness. If this is the case and there is indeed a wire from the wiring harness connected directly to the battery I just need help in locating where in the harness I can find it. Thanks in advance.

I have removed my original windshield from my 1970 z so as to put in a less scratched and pitted one for an upcoming event. While I have my windshield out I wondered if there was any preventative maintenance I could do on the dash to prevent cracking, it is original and uncracked at this time. Thanks Chris

New "Mad Max" subscriber, bought a 72 240z about a month ago. Last night at midnight, leaving a bar in the rain, turned on the wipers. The arms moved about 30 degrees and stopped. The wipers have been working at both low & high speeds until now, but now nothing happens. No fuses are blown. I'm mechanically & electrically competent. Please tell me how to troubleshoot this problem like is it the motor, the linkage, the switch, electrical, etc. It's been raining a lot here in San Jose, CA. Thanks for reading!

hello, so ive been having some issues with my 1978 280z .. mainly how it would rough idle and die when i apply gas .. cleaned the water temp sensor and that went away.. so every once in a while the car would just die on my while driving.. found out the two wires coming off the distributor was getting chewed up by the ac compressor pulley.. so i ended up replacing that and for 1 week i didnt have any problem until this morning.. (so after cleaning the water temp sensor and replacing the fuel filter, ignition coil, distributor, sparkplugs, cap and rotor and sparkplug wires. i didnt have any problem since february 7th.) this morning drove …

I'm almost done with my ground up build and trying to find window glass for my car that is not scratched. Is there anybody that has new or good glass? It's very frustrating when you replace every nut and bolt and have glass that has scratches in it.

Hi guys, (first post!), I changed the front driver lower-ball-joint but cannot get its housing (steering knuckle) to line up/bolt onto the strut. The problem is that the strut's screw mounts are angled inward, but the knuckle's aren't (see attached pic). Do I need to compress the strut to get the knuckle to line up, or is there a trick to this I am missing? I tried compressing the spring last night with some strut spring compressors, but the strut was still stuck in the down position. I came up with an idea last night but have yet to try it : Would it be possible to bolt all of the other suspension components back on and then thread an allen key (o…

Hello all This morning - it was 28°F - while driving to work my alternator decided that it had enough of my crap. Gauge showed absolutely no charging and the fan was having a hard time blowing any amount of air with the headlights on. Got to work turned the Z off. Got a DMM out start the car and magic the alternator works again. Its been making bad bearing noises in the past couple of weeks so upon arriving home I decided to just swap it out with a refurbished one. Come to find that the little capacitor looking thing - I'm guessing it would be the condenser is no longer connected to any part of the loom. So a few questions. 1. Is the condenser needed? I don't a…

I´m litteraly on the edge of going ballistic... It started with a simple operation of replacing my stock distributor for a 1-2-3 BT Ignition, a simple job that has turned into a electrical nightmare?! The car (with the electronic distributor) turned but hesitated to start, it gradually got worse until no reaction from the cylinders at all... Back to the drawing-board, and installed the stock distributor once again, thinking it might be a faulty out of the box electronic distributor..? No reaction at all, engine turns, I smell fuel but no bang? I have power to the coil, but no spark? I have tried to jump direct from the PLUS on the battery to the coil? …
