Hey all, I'm restoring my car that I took apart 10 years and a lot of beer ago, and I just found this clear plastic cover, it's 6.25" long with radius corners and a hole in each end of it for a bolt to go thru. Any ideas where it belongs in the interior?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I need to soak up some Zed knowledge. I purchased a 280z a few years ago and I'm starting the process of restoration now. It's slow going for me. Also, if I've posted this in the wrong section, please let me know. The car has 69k miles on it and it no modifications. It does have a little rust in a few places, and a cheap respray job over the original light metallic blue paint. Right now my goal is to get it back on the road for under 3k (this does not mean 'restored' condition), and drive it occasionally as a second car while I slowly restore it as I am going back to school. I'm tired of paying the storage fees. lol. Well, at the mome…

I was thinking once i get myself a Datsun. I wanted to put a turbo on it. What would I need to change to put the Turbo on the L24 so it would run with out breaking. How much horsepower can the L 24 actually take until it starts to break often? Thanks -Eddy

Hi all, I own a 72 240Z original condition and I’m having a little trouble with the rear brake lights. The brake light on the driver’s side works fine but the passenger light doesn’t work. All fuses are good and I verified the bulb works by swamping them. Socket is clean no corrosion and all wires I can see look good. All other lights in the rear work. I have the plastic covers removed so I have good access to everything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Henry 72 240Z Brake Issues.docx

Had nothing but an ugly bent up tray. Getting tray, drain, top bracket and j hook. Looking at battery tray area I see where the bolt goes on the firewall but it is not obvious where the j hook would go down in front of the battery. I expected to see a hole or at least a bumped up edge or something to locate (hold) the j hook in place. All I see are some spot welds holding the mount in place. Initially covered in dust and undercoating I thought one of the spot welds was going to reveal a plugged hole. Does it simply hook under the lip of the tray? There are no witness marks where it would have been in the past. Tried google images with no luck. Thanks!

Hello,I'm new on here, having just bought a '78 280z less than 2 weeks ago. I'll do a proper introduction elsewhere with a thread on the build, but for now I have a question:When we were trying to get the car running last week - by draining out the old gas and filling up with fresh - we discovered that the previous owner did not have the key for the locked filler cap. We ended up having to drill out the cap which in turn fell into the tank along with the drill bit. I'm not too concerned about this right now as I'm dropping the tank this week anyway to clean it out, however when drilling it out we cause some damage to the threads for the cap (See images attached).I've sinc…

Stop me if this will be a mistake. My son is taking my tarnished crusty 44 year old valve cover with him to work tomorrow to plastic bead blast it. My only fear, can't look worse, is that it will it be so clean that it will tarnish quickly. Don't want to clear coat it, do I? How about an oil finish with a rag? Do it and don't worry about it? How have others cleaned/restored their Z valve covers? thanks again guys!

Just gassed up my new to me 240 z. I noticed a rubber hose leaking on the bottom drivers side. it comes out of a port in the gas tank then goes up. Is this just a vent hose? How do I access it?

Well, I just received that dreaded call from my local radiator shop. They pressured my radiator up and it has multiple cracks throughout the upper and lower tanks. So it is now scarp metal. I am curious about the radiators you see for sale on Ebay. The radiators seem very reasonable price wise, but will they bolt up correctly and what kind of quality are they? Anyone out there have any experience with these aftermarket radiators ? I provided some links to kind of show what I am looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/UPGRADE-4-ROWS-ALUMINUM-RADIATOR-FOR-1975-1978-DATSUN-280Z-FAIRLADY-Z-S130-L28-N-/322768814567?fits=Year%3A1978|Make%3ADatsun|Model%3A280Z&has…

so i was driving down the road last night about 2:30am and i noticed my head lights weren’t working only my high beams but didn’t care that much just wanted to get home. so i keep going and i look at my AFR gauge and it was a little lean so i took it out of gear and put it in neutral and my RPMS jumped to 3000 and then started fluctuating between 2500-3000 and wouldn’t stop so i pulled over looked for vacuum leaks and found nothing. kept look and couldn’t find anything so i pulled the wire on the AFM and it made my RPMs drop about 1000 but kept fluctuating. i can’t figure out what’s wrong plz help! There's a condenser that comes out of the harness with the wires that connect to the alternator. That condenser is screwed into one of the screws that holds the old voltage regulator on the wheel well. The instructions say nothing about that condenser so I'm assuming it stays??
