I have owned a 1977 280z for about a year. I am new to this site. I'm trying to learn more about my car and its issues. I don't know much. I will try my best to explain my car issues. Have owned it about 6 months. She always ran rich a bit and over time I have replace a lot of items to address this. Over the past two weeks after we added a new 2.5 exhaust system and cherry bomb .... I know we are looking for another option.... the over fueling began to get worse. Hi, Another bizare broblem, my left brake lights and flasher do not work anymore. this is what i tested. Bulbs OK, then I cleaned left harnest and connectors. did not solve anything. So started diag. Did a lot of looking around and figured that left feed is green and red wire and left feed is green and black. I checked in the from under dash right side there is a 3 pins connector with the green red (left) and green black (right) feeds. Hey guys, back again. 71 240z is running great, but I cant get the tach to work. I have a .3 ohm Pertronix coil and Pertronix Ignitor. I have tried the stock wiring, and various other wiring, but to no avail. I did notice that there is a GW wire, a larger BW wire, and the another smaller BW wire wich is conjoined with a B wire via a coupler. Right now I have the GW on the front side of the ballast along with the conjoined smaller BW and B wires, and the larger BW wire on the rear side of the ballast along with the R wire from the Ignitor. The B wire from the Ignitor is on the - post of the coil and a small B wire connecting the + coil post to the front side of the ba…

So I've tried searching several z forums for this exact issue as well as asked a few mechanics I know to help and have had no success solving my problem... My car is a 1975 280z, it has a 1972 240z head and a 1982 280zx block. Dual su carburetors and electronic ignition that I beilive was sourced from another 280zx by the previous owner. The car ran fine for the first year I owned it. My issue is that the car will start and idle with no issues but after driving for half a minute or so the car wil stop accelerating and wont respond to the throttle. It then will bogg down, my tach will drop and the car will stall out. Sometimes I can keep it going other times I c…

Ok so I bought my z almost a month ago now it runs strong and I love it it's time to piece this thing back together.. I believe I've read most of the interior threads and I think this car may have been pieced together some time ago by po . Do any of y'all have pics of what the correct interior should be in my car build date of 9/71? That would include dash and center console pics? I think the dash and console may have been swapped ??! after searching the forums i was unable to find anything that would help: Here is my current situation: Vehicle: 72 240z stock l24 w e88 head, 3 screw roundtops stock 4 speed manual, only modification would be a fuel pump mounted at rear of car. Had the vehicle out one day, driving well, all was good. i hit a bump and the wire i have running next to the driveshaft for the fuel pump got caught on the driveshaft and tore, needless to say the car died. flash forward, fixed the wire, secured it better this time and all seemed good, fired her up, and she was once again idling. i hop in to drive after she was warmed up, blip the throttle and immediatly lose…

Hi. I need help. I am a "new in the hunt" Z Car baby looking for a 240z to get so my son and I can drive to car shows, but one I can also use as a daily driver. Wonder if I can get input on this car for sale on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/192201174074 With all the visible rust and after talking to the cars mechanic for the last 12 years, I see this car needing major body work and a total interior overhaul. Hey All, jst a question about wiring in the zx alternator upgrade. Have installed the alternator and adaptor from Dave, the car is charging but the Amp gauge fluctuates wildly when car is running. Does this look like the correct wiring for the alternator. Car is a 12/70 240Z. Going out to change the oil, thanks in advance for any input! Mark

It's my First time changing bearings. I bought new front bearings from rock auto. Timken brand, the races went in nicely, but then I packed the bearings put them in the hub and tried to slide them on the inner bearing wouldn't go past the last step in the spindle. I pulled it out and just tried to slide the bearing on and it gets jammed. I checked the boxes the bearings came in and they appear to be the right size, Timken set 6 for the inner and set 2 for the outer. I double checked the old inner and it does get caught up but will go on. Feeling the spindle there doesn't seem to be any scratches that would hold it up. The outer bearing similarity gets caught …

Hi need help again, My car have a strange isue i saw a few post here that talk about it with no clear solution. I run pertronics pickup and 3ohm flame trower this worked fine for a few year 5 i think now it run inequal sometime it runs fine and sometimes at around 4k rpm it dies i lose fire on some of the cilinders and this only apens under load. I tried using 1.5ohm original coil same thing. tryied to bypass tachometer work for about 30miles than it started to do same thing, Note the 30 miles i did were on the highway and not to fast lets say around 70mph. any input would be great.
