So I have a bizarre problem and I'm not sure what to check. Let me start at the beginning. I was driving my 1976 280z and noticed the temp gage all the way to the right so I pull over soon as I can. When I look under the hood there is coolant squirting out a hole in the front of the radiator. After I tow the car home, I drain the oil and it doesn't look like any coolant has gotten in. I drain the coolant and it doesn't look there is any oil in the coolant. Then I install the 3 row radiator from MSA and add fresh coolant and oil. (I accidentally put in too much oil, so the level is at the left "leg" of the H.) I have only driven it a couple of times since then, because…

New to the website and just took delivery on a resurrection project that has been sitting for 19 years. Got the title and keys to this project car-did not get either on my other Datsun project still in progress-but not sure if the glove box had a different key. I have 3 copies of the same key which work on the doors and ignition, also inserts and turns in the glove box but it refuses to open. Hoping to find some additional vehicle history or possible owners manual in there. Was there a different key for the glove box? Or will I have to start removing parts? Thanks in advance from a Z newcomer for any helpful advice. John-Lugoff, SC

I have a completely orignal 1972 240z that I am trying to get back on the road, (over all freshen up under way). It does not have a fan shroud. I have seen several of you guys that DO have fan shrouds. Did my car come with one and possibly lost it somewhere along the way? Do I need one? Thanks in advance, Danny

Hello all! I am getting ready to replace the speakers in the rear section of my 280Z 2+2 and thought about adding two more smaller speakers in the doors near the front ... or somewhere else, if possible ... to have a decent, four speaker system. My question is, where would you install these speakers? I currently have the inner door panels off and I don't see a convenient place to install speakers, though there is a circular indent near the bottom toward the front of the door (the side that hinges to the car body). This is an indentation, not a cut out. Can I cut this out and install a speaker there? If I do, would it interfere with something, such as the raising/lowering…

The topic of installing new seat covers has been covered nicely by Hardway and several others. However, having completed the job on the first of my 70 Z's two seats (Distinctive Industries covers, purchased from Mike at Banzai), I've run into a little conundrum that nobody seems to have ever commented on: For the bottom half of the seat, I installed the seat cover with the sliding seat tracks removed from the seat frame. This seemed only logical, since it provides full access to the underside for purposes of pulling the hem of the cover over the metal tangs (and also for purposes of pulling the listing wire fabric loop down through the slot in the foam and clipping …

Ok so here goes. I've been trying to drive my Z around lately because I just got it road legal and I thought I had it running beautifully. But it seems that after 20 or 30 mins. of driving, or after the car warms up, it falls on its face, loses power, stumbles and the exhaust note changes. What I cant understand is how one minute it'll have full power and sound/ drive amazing, and the next minute, it becomes lethargic. Also noticed that the temp gauge flies up past the red mark, the amp gauge freaks out and when I have the lights on and step on the brakes the dash lights dim. I also noticed that when I rev the engine with the lights on they get brighter. Could I have a f…

I recently picked up a 240z from an old guy that's had it for decades. It's in really great shape but hasn't been driven in awhile. I changed th oil when I got it home and have put a couple hundred miles on it. I noticed that it's leaking coolant in several places, one spot seems to be coming from where the head and block meet but definitely from a couple of the hoses. I started draining the coolant to flush it and found it to be very milky. I've attached a pic. It's not smoking or overheating so if there is something going on with the head gasket it doesn't appear to be severe yet. Anyone have any ideas of what the issue could be?

Hello, I have a 260z with the original engine. When i bought the car it wasn't running and so after changing the fuel pump, ignition system, and carbs (from flat tops to su carbs) I FINALLY got it to start up!! Only problem is that it is running at a very high pace, and releasing a lot of smoke through the exhaust now I'm no car expert as this is my first car project so i have an idea on what may be wrong but am not sure, so I wanted to see if any one could identify the symptoms on the video below (in link) and provide a solution to help me solve the issue before I dive in and try to figure it out myself. That way I can move on quickly and go on to the other problems the …

I'm reparing my Heater Center Console Panel, adding a New Fuse Box from MSA and installing a New Stereo on my 1973 240z. The prior owner messed it up pretty bad when installing the Stereo 12years back, so I decided to do some major repairs and restoration. Removal of the Heater Control Panel was easy! Thanks to a prior thread read post #5 by EScanlon: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4429&highlight=Center+Control+panel Once I started looking at the wires I noticed many issues and questions as I expected. I can use some help identifying several wires, connectors and recommended fixes of diagnostic approaches. 1) There is a 3prong relay (phot…
