does anyone have a recommendation for the replacement of the interior dash, rear window defogger indicator bulb, manual choke indicator bulb etc as to the bulb type? i've checked my local autoparts store and they had nothing. Does the bulb sockets have to be replaced? can i order bulbs from somewhere? replace with led's somehow? my interior is going dark and i would appreciate any advice. My cars and early 1974 260z. thanks!

I have a 78 with a 5 speed and a mystery shifter. It has Maxima shifter bushings, a 300zx boot and knob, and seems to be cut and/or bent out of its natural shape. I'm looking to replace it with something that'll work like the stock one. Finding a shifter (any shifter!) is surprisingly difficult, so I want to make sure I'm casting the widest net possible. I know the early 240 had a different transmission, and that one won't work. I *think* the 280's 4 speed shifter will also work with the 5 speed. Is that correct?

Last one for today, I promise! (Well, I really hope so!) So I'm greasing up the tie rod ends and ball joints to finish up the suspension work and notice there's a zerk fitting on the half shaft. I smartly think to myself that hey, while I'm down here, I should do that, too! And it proceeds to snap clean off because of course it does. I'm gonna go back to the hardware store and get a screw extractor and hope that gets it out (unless there's a better idea). The other side doesn't even have a fitting; just a screw where one would be. I thought I read somewhere that the 280z halfshafts aren't supposed to be serviceable anyway. If I can't get the fitting out and a ne…

Hi everyone I'm currently restoring a '75 280z and am running into some problems with cleaning the gas tank. I've tried cleaning it with acetone and some bb's but for some reason I believe the fuel hose outlet is still clogged. Ive tried compressed air and pouring acetone directly into the pipe but cannot seem to get anything through it. This is my first restoration and Im faily new to the whole process is there any suggestions sort of taking it to a radiator shop or buying a new tank that I could try. Thanks!

Hey guys. Just putting in my new L28z after some drama, we got the new engine into the bay. With a new started installed it was cranking over intermittently. We thought it was the new starter, but installed the old and it's the same issue. If a jump a wore from the battery directly to the ignition terminal on the starter it cranks right over. With a voltmeter, the wire from the ignition is only showing 7-9 volts. I assume this is my issue? (I would get 12 direct to the battery). Looking at te wiring diagram te black wire with the yellow strip (wire which connect ignition to starter) shows that it run direct to the key ignition. When I check for connectivity across the…

Hello! I am still going through my '77 280Z 2+2 and getting this thing and that thing working again. I've noticed that the vents on the car do not seem to be working correctly. I will see if I can explain what I am experiencing: - When I run the vent and have the fan up all the way, I can barely feel the air moving, though I can hear the fan really whirring away. If I put my hand up to the vent, I feel the air, but it's as if the air is not coming from the vent ... but from somewhere else? I am wondering if things are not hooked up properly and or if there is a clog, etc. - If I try to run the defrost/defogger, I hear the fan again (it sounds strong), but no …

yesterday i worked on it all day. before today it would miss, spit and sputter and have 0 power while under a load. this is what i did and the outcome pulled oil pump and put to TDC and timing was set right. Found out spark plugs were in the wrong order was set to go 153624 going clockwise not counter clockwise, so i fixed that. pulled all injectors and replaced with new ones. pulled all spark plugs (sorta new) and cleaned and re gapped adjusted TPS sensor, fixed intake leak between AFM and intake. set timing with timing light to 10 degrees BTDC started her up and she idled perfect. my question now is it has a sputter at partial throttle and no power under a load. it h…

I have taken the dashboard out of my 71 240z and when putting everything back in i have run into wire troubles. Have not been able to find out where the RED, BLACK, and GREEN wire go that come from the wire harness that connects to the fan switch. The green wire is attached to the switch itself, but the red and green come from the harness. The z also has a/c and i do not know where the blue wire that is taped around the harness goes either. i have taken a picture. Help! Joe
