Hello .. I am in the middle of adjusting my Valve Lash and as I removed the Valve cover I noticed my rockers' lock nut and Adjusting nut are not Stock. This leads me to believe my Cam is not also.. so before I go to far on adjusting I'd like help on getting some questions answered. Engine was rebuilt about 25k miles ago and runs absolutely great. Last valve lash adjustment was done about 20K miles by the prior owner and he does not know the specifics of the rebuild other than is was "enhanced" and has a 9.5 : 1 compression ratio as a result of new valves & seats, pistons, stock block bore & hone. Any insight or help is appreciated. 1) My L24 cam has …

In the process of refreshing my instrument lighting, have the tach removed, and cannot release the little screw that holds the trip reset cable to the back of the speedometer. Does anyone know what type of head the screw is? Have tried mini phillips, slot, small allen hex, etc. Can't quite see with a flashlight what the screw head is to use the proper tool. Read an older thread where Captain O. indicated that the vent hose could be unplugged to give the trip cable enough length to remove the speedo. I am worried I won't be able to reattach the hose though. Just need to get to the top speedo lighting bulb, got the bottom one replaced with not too much trouble with…

This is a picture i took underneath my car when the alignment of the tie rods was carried out! As mentioned before my 240z has a 280z transmission. I replaced the speedometer cable but still have a bouncing speedometer from 0 to 40mph! Is there something i am missing here? This cable is Brand new from Black Dragon. Once it reaches 40mph it dials the speed steady.

I need to get my vacuum control valve re - plated. The piece on the end is aluminum and my plater has warned me that the aluminum will disintegrate in the plating process. Doesn't look like it comes part easily. Any suggestions as to what I can do. Thanks. Jeff Mader

So, bringing my 72 back to life - it was an automatic but I replaced that with the type B 5 speed long ago. I have a 77 electronic dizzy. I set out to rotate my cam sprocket, since this is what I saw during my first valve lash adjustment by myself last week. I followed Scott Bruning's Z Therapy video from 15 years ago (!) to the letter: I set to TDC, wedged the chain with a long tip phillips, etc. following the procedures. I removed the sprocket and rotated clockwise to dowel pin hole #2 and could see that the groove hardly moved (in relation to the notch), if at all. So I rotated to #3 and got the sprocket back on with some tough love. Now the groove has mo…

Hi all, Sorry if this has been asked, and answered, before. I did a search, but did't see it. I am in the final phases of a 10 year resto project on my '73. It should be very exciting, but I have hit a head scratcher. The car is still without the glass, interior, exhaust, manifolds, carbs, etc.....so still has some weight to come, but it is sitting pretty uneven. The driver's side of the car is almost an inch higher than the passenger side. I have new Tokico blues in it.....with the Suspension Techniques lowering springs I put in it about 14 years ago. The car was only driven sparingly in the summer and has been apart for 10 years now....so I expect the springs to be…

I have a 1971 240z, when I bought it it ran well and was good all summer and come winter time I had some minor things to fix. Decided to pull the engine and rebuild it. Everything was cleaned and put back together, everything seemed fine but now it won't start. At first there were electrical issues, no power to the ignition. That was fixed and we tried to start the car. With the throttle fully open it will turn over really rough but it runs, barely.. it sits at 1000rpm and after a couple minutes it dies (that is worth the throttle fully open the whole time). We checked compression it's good, checked for leaks at all flanges and there are none, replaced spark plugs as 3 we…

Hello, for those who are using the MSD 6al where did you find your ignition wire? Ive found plenty of them but none that stay12 volts while starting. They all drop down to zero. Ive tested it with a constant 12v and it works fine.
