I've been trying to grease new half-shaft u-joint bearings in my '71 240z. Using GMB bearings from Motorsport Auto and using Red 'n Tacky Lucas grease with a pistol grip 14 oz. grease gun.The problem is grease is only coming out of 1 of the 4 bearings. All suggestions appreciated and I love this forum. Thanks in advance

I need a little help getting the rear suspension put back together on my 1972 240z. I took off the old front differential insulator, seen below, which has a center bolt that is fastened with a washer and nut. The new insulator, seen below, has a rubber center section where the bolt should be. Is this the right insulator? How does it attach to the cross member? Also, this project has taken me a few weeks as I got derailed with the rear control arm pin for a couple of weeks. Now my memory is fuzzy and I can't remember how I disassembled the cross member. There are two bolt holes on either side of the center hole in the front cross member. (see below circled in y…

Hey Guys, I have been going through my parts stash and found an NOS washer bottle. I need to know the correct part number for the 240Z washer bottle to know if what I have is in fact for a 240Z. It looks to be one as I remember them. If you know the part number, please let me know. Thanks! David

OK so I just typed a two paragraphs explaining how I got here, then chrome reloaded for no aparrent reason. One thing I don't like about this new format, is that vBulletin used to saved your stuff as you typed it and could recover it should your browser drop. But moving on. Car started running like crap, was trying to figure out why, somewhere along the way spun a rod, threw in a L28. New motor came with a electronic dizzy, which I intended to use but for first start up I used my points unit, since I knew that would at least start my old L26. Now that I had confirmed it ran, I installed the 280 dizzy. Attached the HEI to a grounded spot. Ran ON 12+ and start 12+ to the +…

New to this site, I sure hope you guys can help. I just got a 77 Datsun 280z for my first project car. The car sat for two years with no gas in the tank, and I've been trying to get it started for about a week now. I get plenty of spark, I checked the coil and plugs and they're all fine. I installed a new fuel filter, replaced blown fuses, charged up the battery and put fresh gas in the tank. It turns over fine, starts up for a few seconds then dies. I pulled all the injectors and cleaned them as best I could, new fuel line in the engine compartment as well. If you push the flap in on the AFM all the injectors spray, so I think it might be the fuel pump, I'll be taking a …

So just a little back story on the car: It's a bone stock L24 with L28 N47 head (E31 is getting some special work done) and because of the N47, a low pressure electric pump and regulator set at 3PSI. Over the last few weeks I've noticed when starting my car cold it seems to start very hard without opening the throttle a tad bit or revving the snot out of it. For a few moments after it starts. The car seems to be running WAY rich all of the sudden, at about 2 turns down. Today it didn't want to run very well leaving work on my lunch break, and was quick to stutter and choke. You could smell the raw fuel. I've been having issues with my SU's running rich for a while and I…

So Im just about done with my L24 rebuild, I was mounting the dizzy and as soon as I go to hand tighten the bolts they didn't want to go in after a couple turns. The threads are messed up on the cover, my heart just dropped with all the time spent on my first rebuild. Im wondering do I have to get another front cover and reinstall everything, Or can I can I re tap the holes on the front cover without removing it? I can tape off the whole to the dizzy so no metal pieces fall in. I hope this way will be ok...

I am converting my rear end. After a few problem's with a VLSD R200 that was not fitting my Z31 halt shaft. Not same number of splines. Had my CLSD R200 rebuilt with the VLSD gears. Started remounting the back of the car and got into another headache. I have R200 with T3 lower arm's and Z31 half shaft. Chequered flag racing Stub axle and Companion flange. when i measure the distance between upper and lower bushing from originale lower arm i got 14 1/2 inches (center to center) For my Z31 to be at middle travel i need 15 1/2 inches right side and 15 3/4 left side. that is with no weight on the suspenssion. It looks like i have about 1 inche of travel on the half shaft so …

I have no spark from coil. I have replaced the ign module in the distributor, new coil new cap and rotor. Set the points. If I scrape a ground wire to the ignition module in the distributor I can get it to spark.

I'll start off by explaining that my clutch is still mostly fubar, but after bleeding it again, and readjusting the pedal she is perfectly drivable again, so long as I take it kinda easy. My Z has always(since I got it running) idled what I've gathered to be kinda high about 1050 or so, it doesn't drop much more than even that with idle screws backed out all the way. But it gets so crappy below 1000 that I keep it right there. At idle its alway had an ocassional miss or pop, when running parked it will alway leave black flecks on the ground directly behind the tailpipe and when I let off the gas it smells like gas and kinda ****ty. All that aside it gets decent MPG and s…
