Among the goodies that came with a 74 260 that I recently purchased are 2 down-draft carbs, air filters, twin manifolds and linkage. The carbs say Solex on the side but a reliable source says they are Weber DGVs. As you can tell, I know little about them. I hope some of you out there are willing to educate me. I'd like any info and opinions. I was told that one of them needs a power valve diaphram otherwise they both appear to be in good clean condition. Mark in Portland

I'm needing to replace my dirty filter element in honor of the arrival of spring. The last one I bought was thru NISSAN and it was the last one their warehouse had. The parts house doesn't show it available in the books and K&N doesn't offer the one they show. You guys have any suggestions? I'm looking for the 240 element. These are for 46's on a 4 cylinder L-motor and I can always build another housing to take another element but a pain if not needed.

I read about somewhere (i think it was in this forum) that vacuum advance in properly tuned engine/carburator can improve the fuel efficiency with triples as well. It was somekind of research, cant remember where it was. Im very close to finishing my project with triple carb setup and i would like to hear about your experience in using vacuum advance with 3 carbs. I have SK carbs and they have vacuum port fitted, though only in one out of 3. Rest are sealed for some reason. Does one barrel provide enough vacuum for distributor? My engine is stock, with MSA header but i have no-points dizzy. I think timing was set to 17 degrees. Any info/help would be appreciated. edit. h…

Seems like there are fewer options for new mechanical fuel pumps. Airtex seems to have taken over but they've gotten a lot of bad reviews online. MSA sold me a Kyosan (maybe rebuilt) a few years back; the one they show now is unnamed but looks like an Airtex#1080. Autozone and O'reilly have Airtex and a generic, Pep boys have that plus Carter #P60504. Beck-Arnley #1515725 is available. Bosch #68909 seems to be NLA, not listed on their site. That all I could find. All unrebuildable cheapies, looks like. Any recommendations for a good fuel pump? Will keep the Kyosan to rebuild someday per Arne's article if I can find the parts, but need to decide on something.

Just purchased a 1972 Datsun 240z from a Dealer in Colorado where it is cold. The car was shipped to Panama, Central America where the temperature is 32 degrees Celsius (Hot Weather). Anyway, i had to remove the thermostat as it was taking the temperature needle more than half way. The car Works perfectly and mantains the needle at half of the temperature gauge for the first 25 minutes. After that time lapse and whenever i stop at any intersection light the RPM starts to drop to 600 RPM with the intention of stalling, so in a rush of not being dumped in the road i drove to my house and kept the car in idle for 2 minutes when it finally shut down. Could this be a carbureto…

My car was running perfectly till this morning it started right up and then just bogged and died. I figured it wasnt getting fuel. So then I checked the fuel filter which was a clear glass filter and it was super dirty. I replaced it and got car running but it was running super rough like it was missing and sure enough pulling the wires on back 3 plugs while running and it didn't stumble. So now I think the rear carb has issues. Could the needle be clogged from dirt that got through? While it was running I pinched the idle mixture hose from the float it didn't stall so it seems like it isn't getting fuel. Is there a way to check the back su carb to know if its functi…

New to the forum here. I purchased a 1972 240z from a member here. I want to replace the carb bowl to nozzle hoses. Does it matter what type of fuel hose I use? I saw this link and was wondering if it had to be thin or special type hose. SU CARB BOWL TO NOZZLE HOSE

I am in the process of looking for a triple carb manifold and I have found one but I can't tell what version it is. I am familiar with the 4 manifolds such as cannon, mikuni, fet, and twm. I can't seem to tell what kind of manifold this one is. It looks like a cannon but has the linkage set up like a mikuni. I have attached photos and I am waiting for the vendor to see if there are any noticeable stampings. I don't see any in the photos.

I just recieved my new round top repair kits from ZTherapy. Thanks Pam, Bruce & Steve. After trying the standard jet adusting methods a few times, the piston would drop until that 1/32" from the bottom. I tried adjusting it dozens of times to free it up. The last turn of the wrench would always cause it to stick. I doubt that this is new but I haven't seen it in any forums. Everyone let me know why I shouldn't do this if it works so well. Method: Needle-set to height Install the spring and round top with damper rod removed Loosen the jet adjuster nut Install the jet Using the choke lever, not the linkage, carefully check the alignment of the choke linkage to the j…

I'm cleaning up two round top carbs that came on a 2.8 engine in a 260 project car. Obviously they are not original to either. One carb has a damaged top, I took an original top and piston from a early 71 carb. Upon comparing the jet needle length I found the early 71 jet was about an eighth of an inch longer than the one that came off the car. Both needles are installed to the proper height. Were there different lenghth needles from the factory or am I dealing with a replacement? If it is a replacement what advantage do the short needles provide? Mark in Portland

Hi, I just finished fixing my SU carbs on my 280Z on a L26 engine, yes quite a tuttifrutti of a car jajajaja, anyways on the way of fixing the carbs(late 240Z i guess) i wasn't able to save the needles and never got the chance to run them. I was wondering what type of needle should I put on, it is a manual transmission and a L26 engine...
