Note: This is regarding a 1970 RHD setup I had my throttle linkage assembly plated last week with a disastrous result. The cleaning agent used by the platers corroded the plastic socket joints which has made them useless. Is there anyway of repairing these or do I need to find some new rods? If so, are they reproduced or is it a case of getting searching for a secondhand set? Has anyone used throttle rods from another car such as the mercedes W107SL? (See Pic below) I also noticed that the linkage rod that runs parallel to the firewall came in different lengths? See pics below. The longer one is off my 1970 240z the other shorter one is off a later model 240z. Unfort…

Having searched around a ton, and read a bunch of reports, I keep seeing mixed messages about SM needles. Did a clean and refresh on my SU's this weekend, and installed the SM needles that came with the z therapy kit. Nice improvement. Above 3k, she wakes up a bit more, and pulls harder. Fuel mileage is up as well. But I keep reading that they are all kinds of bad in the long run. Trying to find any other needle is seemingly very hard to do now. Anyone care so shed some serious light on this? Why would they include it if its capable of more harm than good?

56-1410 - K&N Custom Assemblies, Custom Racing Assembly direct from K&N Approximately 20yrs ago, I purchased K&N chrome air filter assemblies through MSA for my 240Z. Motorsport! K&N Air Cleaner, 70-72 240Z S.U. Carburetors - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts I recently removed the filters to clean them and noted that the points where the screw rods that connect the front and rear plates of the chrome housings are attached to the rear plate, have cracked. Consequently the screw rods are loose, making installation very difficult (i.e. screw rods are out of position and move around) and also allowing air to e…

My 72 Z would not run at idle last Friday. I limped it home and watched my Z Therapy video. It refreshed my stale memory on the SU's. I found a couple of problems::disappoin The choke tube was sticking, lubed the linkage and took care of that. Then I found that the choke cable had some issues.:ermm:I have a couple good used cables but while going to the work of changing them:disappoin I would rather install a new one. Anyone have any leads on a NOS choke cable assembly for a 7/72 production 72Z? Thanks JLP

I have triple carbs on now with K&N filters that are 69mm deep, wondering if it is worth it from a performance stand point to install 25mm or maybe 50mm air horns? Using 50mm horns only allows 19mm of space between the end of the air filter and the horn but the angular distance would be more. Has anyone tried horns inside of the air filters? Chris

I'm the current caretaker of a 1972 240Z that didn't get all its regular maintenance as it should have. The oil in the SU carbs seems to get "used up" pretty rapidly. I check it every time I drive it and usually have to top it off. On drives of 30 to 40 miles if there is a lot of stop and go traffic I will need to fill up the reservoirs before returning home. Are their seals or anything that wear out which cause excessive oil use in the dampers? I suspect that the car was driven for a long time without ever having the oil reservoirs checked. Could the piston have worn the cylinder such that more oil is lost than normal? On long trips on the freeway (100+ miles or mor…

pausing a moment to verify my connections are correct there are three fuel lines running along the frame. 1 leads to the canister (easy enough), the other two leading to the carbs. which of those two fuel lines is supposed to be supply, and which is supposed to be return? and why are the hard lines running along the frame 5/16", while the lines running to the carbs are 1/4"??!! thanks, tony

My #1 carb is getting wayyy too much gas. I have posted the following video to demonstrate what it is doing: SU Carb - YouTube The #2 carb seems to be getting the right amount of fuel. I mean I don't see it flowing out like a geyser like the #1 carb is. I initially thought that the regulator was bad (i have an aftermarket electric pump), however since the #2 seems to be working right, I'm thinking something may be wrong with the #1 carb. Hope someone has some answers. Thanks.

A moderately built L28 with well tuned ZTherapy SU's, Had this done last week on a Dyno Dynamics machine, torque appears to be 190-192 ftlbs I'm pretty happy with those numbers, but now I have installed a set of SK/OER triples and once I have those tweaked to best performance I'm heading back to the same dyno to answer for myself which carbs are better for me. I don't want to reignite that debate again but I thought some might be interested in the results so I'l post them as soon as I get them. I am really loving the triples, great sound and the car feels stronger but I could just be fooling myself. Chris

Take a look at the video below. I am experiencing a problem with the linkages or carb setting on my 71 240z with original carbs. The symptom is that when stepping on the pedal (or pushing the linkage by hand) there is some resistance just before the linkage starts to move and then it "surges" so that I go from idle to higher RPMs rather than being able to gradually increase RPMs... this does not APPEAR to be binding in the linkages... but I can't be sure. http://www.woytovich.com/transfer/z/ sorry for the large videos... I'll repost them smaller later... Any thoughts? Mark
