I've been looking at various stub stacks for SU's and I'm wondernig if anyone here understands the function of these things enough to know which design is best. I've attached a few representative pictures of the various designs I've seen (including a longer ram jet but I'm not really too concerned about that because it's difficult to use with an aftermarket filter such as a Ramflo or K&N). But anyway I'm wondering if the circular one is best because of the overall symmetry, or if the smaller thin cast ones have some advantage because of the smaller size and shallower mounting area. Or does nothing but the curvature and length really matter? The first one is a ca…

Hi Guys, I've installed my tripple DHLA40L Carbs recently. The motor is an L28 and in need of a rebuild in the near future, perhaps 6 to 12 months away at this point so I don't want to blow a heap of money getting them professionally set up on a dyno until after the rebuild. In the mean time I thought I would get them running as well as I could. My L28 is stock with elec dizzy, headers and 2 1/4" pipe with a hot dog and turbo flow muffler. The engine idles ok atm however running extremely rich. I've been using the Des Hammill book "How to tune Webers & Dellortos". Anyhow I've attached a spread sheet I hope to build on as I fumble my way through the world of tripple ca…

I was always under the assumption these were from a 72, but I am unsure if the previous owner changed them out or not. I cant really make out the stamping on the side it looks like it says HJG46 W-F3 but I am kind of guessing, especially on the W-F3 part. It has a clicky type adjuster on the bottom and not the turn style knob. 3 screw on top and the round throat.

Running a 2.8 on triple Dels. Facet 2 to 4 lb. fuel pump, filter before the pump, 5/16 hose all the way to the carbs, no pressure reg, no return, Carbs were pro rebuilt . It has run hard for the past few months. Out of the blue it dies out past 3500 rpm on the freeway only. On city streets it still runs ok. I have change the pump, lines, and filter with no joy. It will not even run at 3000 rpm on the freeway. Any ideas ?

No question this time, just something that may help someone some time. My gauge works, and seems at least consistent, however, the markings on the gauge don't correspond with the needle. That is, it never shows (F)ull and I remember going pretty far once when the needle had hit (E)mpty. The gauge was registering "E" so I thought it would be a good time to drain the tank and measure then resistance of the sender after adding a known quantity of gasoline to the tank. I'll be posting pictures of the gauge and resistance measures in another thread in the next day or two. My fuel pump is a generic electric "thumpa-thumpa" type installed at the tank, with a filter betwe…

Hi, I'm currently redoing all my old fuel hardlines. I was wondering what fuel line size is suitable for these two different carbs. Mikuni 44's weber 48's would stock fuel line size manage? I have a early 260z thanks

Just like the title says, My newly rebuild SU's squeak. I have had my Z therapy carbs on my car for over a year now and they are quite brilliant. Lately though, I have been noticing a squeaking coming from the dashpots as they go up in the dome off idle when I blip the throttle. Is there a way to lubricate these? I did not think they needed any lubrication? But since I am chasing down a mixture issue, I wonder if my needle is not rising all the way and that could be messing with my fuel mixture. I have not had my carbs apart since they left the Z therapy labs. Never needed to mess with them. They were flawless after being tuned and balanced.

Why do I have to run an electronic fuel pump and then run a regulator to get the same output as my old mechanical fuel pump. When I pull out the mechanical pump, do I just use the L28 EFI plug that sat where the stock mechanical fuel pump would be? Do I want to put the electronic one by the fuel tank or will it matter? Will the filter go after the pump or before it? Do i need to get a different one aside from the OE style?

Cleaned up the gas tank and removed the evaporation tank Removed evaporation tank cleaned up the Gas tank and put it back together. I used a tank restore kit from Hirstauto: http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ARK-01 . The outside of the take is painted with Hirsch Miracle paint: http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MIR-QUART Cleaned, sanded, etched, rinsed and dried a bunch of times. I found 1 hour with a heat gun set on low stuck in the gas inlet dried it well. Followed all the instruction on the gas tank kit, except: I cleaned the tank with Muriatic acid first to remove the rust (there wasn’t much rust but I fixed it anyway). Use all appropriate…

picking up some triple webers this up coming weekend, but I've got a couple questions, first off what do I do with the coolant line for the carbs that runs behind the head? Also what about the line that connects to where the thermostat is? Do I use the stock choke cables and just add a third? Is there a walk through anywhere on here or elsewhere or instructions that shows you what your supposed to hook up where? It comes with everything, but just trying to read up before I get them.

So I've done some searching, and can't find the answer I'm looking for so I'll just ask the experts. (Shameless ego stroking, isn't it) The car is a 73, original motor with 72 RT carbs and intake. I'm running the dual K&N round air filters, 3 1/4 inches deep. What are the best power cones to install in the K&N filters? Is anyone using this setup with success?
