I'm trying to figure out how I should route the fuel lines from a new inline, low pressure fuel pump to a set of SU's. Keep in mind I'm about clueless when it involves classic imports or carbs for that matter. The oldest car I have is my 87' turbo Supra. I am no mechanic either but I am really trying to learn through research and asking questions. The questions- I just run the fuel lines from the tank, into an inline filter, to the pump, then to my su's right? I just have a custom set of daul polished SU's on my 77 280z that have been rebuilt and the lines have been modified on the SU's. The fuel lines look to be conected into a (two to one line) by a series of t-fitting…

Hi guys, new to the forum and the world of Z's. Ok so here is the deal, have a 72 240Z, has mechanical and electric fuel pump, the PO installed the electric fuel pump in the place of the fuel filter. I am in the process of doing the wiring mod to install the pump at the tank where it is supposed to be. Now for the knowledge tapping part, the tank does not seem to be venting, I drive the car about a mile and the car will die and the fuel pump will rattle (like it does if it doesn't have any fuel in it), I can leave the key on and go back and open the fuel tank cap and it will suck in air when I take it off and the fuel pump will quiet down as it draws fuel. My question…

Going back the oil thread, I just miked quite a number of the brass pucks and came up with essentially 2 different sizes. .45" & .48" with, at this point, no known reason for the difference. I'm tossing this out so you can check yours, number one to see if they match and number 2 to help you determin an oil weight to run. The smaller might favor 20wt and the larger one might favor something like ATF which we've run for years. Just something to check when you all are totally out of things to do.

OK, so I will be installing my L28 AGAIN at some point this week. It's been a few moons since I have messed with a set of these carbs. I did just have a motor in the car and the carbs are acting fine asfar as I could tell. But, one thing I would like too get done is the oil in the carbs. How do you go about checking the the oil level? Also if I recall correct I am thinking it's 20w oil. Am I wrong? One other thing on this. How do you go about doing a oil change on the SUs ? Funny, but you should have seen the looks on the faces of the guys at our shop when I said I think I need too check the carb oil LMAO Thank you.

Phenolic Carb Spacers 1 2 3

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of re-producing the Phenolic material spacers between the carbs and the manifolds. Mine have several cracks near the water holes, I'm sure they will leak if I put them back on as they are.I asked Bruce at ZTherapy when I ordered my rebuild kit for my carbs if he sold them and he said no one does. He recommended filling the water holes with epoxy because I really don't need water going into the carbs. Since I have access to a CNC Milling machine I was thinking of machining up a few sets and see if there is any interest. Several factors would come into play. #1 If I could use a less expensive material than phenolic I could charge less. Any suggestions?…

Hi guys, 1971 240Z. Just fitted the stock air filter assembly and love it!....except it is scratched and showing signs of its old age. I would like to refinish and paint it. If I have it media-blasted, can I get all of the original stickers to put back on it? Also, is the sealing gasket still available? I think I saw an old post about the original color, so I know others have done this, but I just really want to know if it is safe to media blast, or should I use chem paint stripper, or hand sand...? Would it look good chromed? I am gonna have to have the bumpers re-done anyway, and thought chrome might look good for that custom touch. whaddya all think? Regards, As…

ok i searched and i mostly found were question and answers on what people thought about them. all honesty i might already know the answer, but my lack of knowledge on carbs wont allow me to believe its correct. i made a vid instead of trying to type out a long confusing description. http://s86.photobucket.com/albums/k98/overdrivex/?action=view¤t=b08816d4.pbr just dont seem right..my best guess is the rod that everything is attached to needs to be replaced because it maybe stripped. that's why instead of moving both sides it only moves one side. both carbs are doing this and this is why im not sure if it really messed up or im just not looking at it right. i did…

Hi Folks, I am almost to the point where I can focus my attention to my carburetors. Been doing some surfing around this and the ZTherapy site because I'm leaning towards rebuilding them myself with Ztherapy's kit/video. I haven't seen any downside to doing busness with them but I haven't talked to them yet either. On their website they mention the "rare" 3 screw carbs with a float bowl drain plug". I think this is what I have although the PO told me they came from a 72. (he also told me there was no rust ) Can anyone clarify this for me? What do I have here and are there any issues rebuilding these? Thanks Mike

I am putting on headers and will need to remove the exhaust and carburetor manifold for the new gasket. I want to make the process as simple and successful as possible and want to be able to just bolt the carb manifold back on, start the car and go. Is there any special process for handling the carb manifold, such as storing with the carbs facing upright or any other thing I should know to make carb and manifold removal and re-install successful. Will I need to re-adjust the carbs after the go back on? G

Does anyone know the manufacturer of this triple Mikuni manifold? It has "Datsun 240z" cast into top. Thanks, <img src="http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/501/medium/DSC01498.jpg" />
