Hi im having some problem with my 240z, one of the Solex/Mikuni triple carb is overflow when idling. My mechanic told me that is the carb problem. and is very hard for me to find spare for the carb. i decided to change to weber DCOE 45. My question is the original manifold for the Solex/Mikuni triple carb can be use for the weber DCOE45 triple carb?

I recently purchased a book on how to tune and rebuild SU's as good light reading, and I ran into a problem. It covers all manner of SU carbs. HS, HD, HS2, HS8. I am pretty sure I do not have the later, but after I get my carbs back from Z therapy, I would like to know which chapters to follow. I have a stock 71 240Z. It has an E46 manifold for what its worth.

I'm changing back to the stock air cleaner box as part of my Winter upgrades. Which got me thinking...has anyone tried a ram air set-up with the SU's and stock air box? I was thinking about running a 3" +/- duct from the intake of the air cleaner box to a collector (maybe 3" x 24") above the front valance, below the bumper. I work in construction, so getting a collector box fab'd should be pretty easy. Seems like it might be a pretty cheap and easy way to pick up some HP's, and help with the problem of overhead heat affecting engine performance. Anybody tried a set-up like this, any results?

Do Z therapy carbs come balanced and ready to bolt on? I would guess not, as no two engines are the same, but what adjustments are needed when bolting on carbs that you get back form Z therapy.

I am finally converting my 75 EFI to SUs. I needed some help in determining which electronic components I should disconnect around the area circled in red below. (See attach.). There are various electrical pieces attached to the black box including the voltage regulator. I know I need the voltage regulator, but what about the rest. Can I just unplug the rest and put electrical tape over the open circuits? Do I need the fusible links as well? That is not my car by the way. I wish it was.

:disappoinI recently bought a 74 260z with Hitachi Carbs.I did a complete tuneup ++ and then had the carbs adjusted for $$$. It seemed oK at first. Now I have a problem with the way it runs if I start it while it is still hot. It runs pretty good for 50 miles but if I stop for gas or a soda then I start it back up it will stutter and run very weak. The engine temp stays low. I have to pull the hand choke all the way back to get power under load. It does not stall out. I have been through the vapor lock theory, and it is not the problem I think. I ran new fuel lines and insulated them , the pumps are new with good pressure. When I have this problem I can drive it for mil…

I am converting from EFI to dual SU's in my 1975 280Z. I will use the fuel tank and the metal fuel lines that are in my '75. I was thinking of using the stock EFI fuel pump, which is at 36psi. I saw a 3 port fuel pressure regulator (Mallory 4309 High Performance Universal Fuel Pressure Regulator) and was wondering if I could use this with the EFI fuel pump.? Or is the EFI fuel pump too much for this type of fuel pressure regulator.? I know that the SU's only need ~4 psi of fuel pressure. Is this something I could hook up between the fuel filter and fuel rail? I eventually plan on getting an aftermarket fuel rail. Is the 3 port fuel pressure regulator what I need t…

Has anyone ever heard if it is possible to use a blow through system on an SU carb? It doesnt look like it would be difficult to install a centrifigal blower on an l6 engine, but are the carbs "blow through" friendly? I know you can blow through a carter or holley 4bbl carb. If possible to install a blower without going fuel injected, Id like to try it.

I'm thinking about changing from my Longflo filters back to the original air cleaner, for two reasons. One, I want to go back to the original look, and two, I have heard that the carbs actually perform better with the original air cleaner. The air cleaner is from the original flat top carbs, and the new carbs are ZTherapy 3-screws. The flat tops have a square opening, while the round tops have a round opening. Will the air clearer work properly with the round tops, or do I need a 70 - 72 air cleaner? Also, would there be any benefit to using a "cold air" induction kit with the round tops, or is that really only effective with FI cars? I'm thinking about fabricating a …

Got what i hope to be a quick question... A little history first. I have been slowly refreshing my 72 240, the car sat after being a daily driver for 15 years in the new mexico sun. I dropped the gas tank had it cleaned replaced all fuel lines from the rear forward new plugs wires, coil, filters and fluids. I wasn't getting sufficent fuel so I got a new fuel pump from msa. car still wouldnt start... Thought I needed to send in the carbs for a rebuild but i couldnt afford it so I got bummed. Anyway after more research I found the fuel lines under the SU's to be clogged. cleaned them out and POOF! the car ran. It sounded like $^!# so after closer exam…

Guys, Yes it is my first post and I have searched. I need a picture of the DGV linkage. I have the parts but cannot figure it out the fit in a logical manner. The most logical position doesn't work without grinding some pieces...which I don't want to do on this car. Thanks, After this it will be out of its 3 year jail time, or soon to be.
