Ok...I spent some time looking through the archives...unable to find a definitive answer. My 71 240 appears to not have the 71 SUs...they are round-tops but the rebuild kits from Black Dragon Auto Parts for the 71 didn't fit...I now live in Guam so everything has to be ordered through the internet...if the SUs are not 71s and they are indeed round-tops...does that automatically mean they are 72s...I need to order more parts but wanted to ping the experts...the car is in the shop so don't have any photos to show if they are 4 screws or 3 screws but will look tomorrow when I get a chance to swing by shop... your advice is appreciated... Thanks Tony

I want to install a set of ITG's on my 71 Zed. I like the look, and I will never outgrow them. So they are sitting in my garage and are the last things I need to hook up to end my 2 month down time in clunk elimination mode. Now having said that, there are 4 lines that go to stock air box. 2 carb vent hoses 1 vent tube that runs to a junction box beneath the coil that I have no idea where it goes 1 large tube to the valve cover, which just pulls the pressure and gasses out. I have gone the route to replace the valve cover hose with a breather like many others have. now I am left to hook up these vacuum lines to the back plates of the ITG's. I am having a hell of a ti…

OK, I just put a reman Nissan L28 that I found at a dealership in my 73, and a set of new SU's from Zeddsaver. It starts and runs great, but only if the choke is pulled, and only at low rpm. I can piddle around the parking lot at work just fine, but as soon as i put some foot in the pedal, it boggs down like its starving for fuel. Before I go and start messing with the carbs, I wanted to first see what you think is the correct fuel flow volume and pressure for a set of SU's on an L28. No other mods except headers. Thanks You!!

I picked up these SUs to go on my original engine that will not be used for now, but just set aside. I thought they would be correct for my 10/70, but after getting them I see they are different. They came complete with the non-flapper, no heat riser air cleaner and the early heat shield also. There are no drain plugs for the float chambers. The float bowl lids are not round. The damper domes are odd shaped, chrome plated steel and have the typical plastic oil filler caps. Does anyone know if these carbs are shown in the earlier service manual? Is this an example of mix & match or as I read somewhere, robbing the roadster parts bins? Thoughts?

Hi, Can someone tell me what is the value for that set up. I put the hand of a complete set up with intake, carbs, jets, air filters and stack. Those we're running this summer so in good condition. Not sure I will need such a high performance set up. Probabbly stay with my SU. Thanks in advance, Joce

I am getting ready to remove the fuel rail fromm my 71 to replate it. I notice that there are two plastic sleaves that the fuel line passes through. Has anybody any ideas on how to remove these little guys without destroying the fuel rail? Thanks.

at some time the previous owner disconnected the mechanical fuel pump and had it running on the electric pump only and it ran fine like that. Although there is fuel pressure it seems weak. The car will not start except with starting fluid and will not continue to run on its own. I have repalced the electric fuel pump with no solution. There is fuel to the carbs but it doesen't seem to get beyond that point. any ideas?

hey all, would like advice on installing this sucker into my 240. http://www.jegs.com/i/Carter/180/P4070/10002/-1?CT=999&sendroicid=1b2a8f2f-b67c-4565-bcce-c050beadb5cd&sendroiad=1664067099&sendroikwd=Carter+P4070&gclid=CJGz2bOep5YCFSUqHgodRW-Dzg according to the datsunzgarage site, the author gives it good marks. just curious on the electrics. a + from the keyed "ON" and "START" position and ground to body? i'd hang it right off the undercarraige, close to the tank with an additional filter. just need advice on electrics. thanks!

Guys, Rebuilding my 4-screw SU's today and one of my old nozzles was completely stuck. Could not get it to budge and ended up having to basically write the thing off. Attached is a picture of the mixture-control wheel/screw thing and the chamber that the nozzle is supposed to slide up and down in. Thankfully this whole component screws into the carb body itself so while this piece is a mess, the carb itself is fine. Does anybody have one of these pieces in an old carb that I can buy or does anyone know where I can get one? Not even sure what this component is actually called. attached picture is pretty crappy but hopefully you'll know what it is. Thanks in advance.

Ok, after you quit laughing help a non-mechanic out with hopefully a simple question...... I just (finally) got the roundtops on the 73, After getting everything hooked back up I went for the first start, wouldn't start so I pulled off the air cleaner to shoot a little starter fluid. After pulling off the air cleaner I noticed that when looking into the carb you see a metal cylinder on one that you can move up and down with your fingers and the other one is open, the cylinder is up and you can't move it. I admit I know nothing about these carbs, I was in hopes of just bolting on and starting...sort of a plug and play if you will. I know that one of these is wrong.....b…
