I have ordered two ITG air filters for my stock SU's on my basically stock L24. I am not looking for HP of any kind from this, but I am wondering if I will need to adjust the carbs any. I ordered air horns to put inside the ITG's so it will be as close to stock as I could make it. I still have the stock air box with a new filter, just in case, but I wanted to try this out for a while. I am asking this as my car starts, drives and idles perfectly right now. Wondering if I am opening a can of worms. I would imagine that the SU's can handle it as they self meter for the most part.

Hi All, My son has a 72 240z with a L24 and dual Weber DGVs. We have been having issues with these lately. I have rebuilt these carbs and after they were rebuilt they worked great for about 3 days. When we installed them after they were rebuilt we also put on a new filter and replaced all the soft fuel lines under the hood. The fuel filter appears to be a newer one so I didn't replace that one but I did add an electric one back by the tank. What will happen is that the front carb will just stop spraying gas at random. Maybe it will run for 2 hours maybe 3 days maybe 20 minutes. On Saturday the front carb decided to quit spraying gas. The temp was maybe mid 70s. We had the…

New out of the box 45 DCOE's on a TMW manifold, Carter 4070 electric pump, 4 psi fuel pressure with pump running. Engine fires but won't catch, plugs removed and are bone dry. Carbs full of fuel, evidenced by dripping. Timing checked and re-checked. Assumed float levels should be within spec from factory. Only modification was installing 165 main jets. Fuel doesn't seem to be making it to combustion chambers...am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any and all advice.

Well, I dropped the float level in the Mikunis, and while I was wrenching, I plugged in a fuel pressure gauge. 6 psi. I need to get down to 4.5 psi for optimum fuel delivery. Can anyone recommend a fuel pressure regulator and advise on where to find one? Many thanks! Frank

I've got a 73 240Z with the original Hitachi flat tops, and very low miles. I'm going to remove the smog control stuff, since I don't need it in Massachusetts anymore. The car has sat for a long time, and hasn't run in a year or so. I took apart the carbs and found a stuck float needle. I haven't started the car yet, I'm waiting until I have cleaned all of the fuel lines and the fuel filters are all replaced, but I'm sure that was the problem. A friend who has worked on older Z's before suggests I get the car running properly with the smog stuff on, then remove it and adjust. It is my understanding that these carbs work much better without the smog stuff, so why no…

I'm thinking seriously about buying a 72' 240 but for show purposes, the owner put triple mikuni carbs on it that cause it to lag badly. I would want to replace them immediately. The engine is the original L24. What would be my options? Also, would there be a market for selling the old ones? The owner claims you could get 1500 for them (doubtful). Thanks!

I have a stock block 240 that I installed triple Webers and headers on. After rebuilding them and figuring out the correct jets and venturi tubes, I now find the fuel pressure drops as the engine warms up. It starts off around 3 PSI and goes to zero, but the motor still runs. Is the fuel cooking in the bowl? I tried replacing the fuel pump, regulator and pressure gauge...$$. I also wrapped the headers with header wrap which made a little difference. Nothing like trouble shooting with the wallet. The water temp gauge says water temperature is normal. Anyone else have this problem? These carbs came out of a junkyard 260Z. They had no heat shield but I have noticed many of …

I've been trying to smooth out my touchy carb linkage in my 1972 240Z. It's build date is 8/72. There are two bellcranks used in the 1972 and from a parts supplier where I've attached pictures it appears there is a different bellcrank after 6/72. The earlier one looks like this: http://www.zcarsource.com/content/p/9/pid/53387/catid/7643_7653/Carburetor_Linkage__Bell_Crank_70_6_72__with_used_bushings_ And the later one looks like this: http://www.zcarsource.com/content/p/9/pid/53388/catid/7643_7653/Carburetor_Linkage__Bell_Crank_7_72_78__with_used_bushings_ My linkage looks like the earlier model. I ordered a bellcrank from ZBarn and he sent me the later one. Could i…

Does anyone have the station measurements for the stock SU needles? Like the N54 or N58? None of the British SU needle charts have them listed, and I want to do some comparing, find out what British needles are the same (or as close to the same as possible) as stock Hitachi needles. Mostly just for reference. The British needles are measured at 14 different points (stations), from thickest to thinnest. Maybe someone that has a stock needle laying around can thow the calipers on it for me?

So here it is, fuel injected SU I mounted 1 GM injectors in both SU. I have a GM ECU that's monitoring sensors for MAP, TPS, Water, LAMBADABADA, and Coil. The thing is 100% stealth for the novice I think. My idea is to have the standard looking car but with the driveability of a modern car, good gas mileage or crazy Mapping for the track... Lot of tuning to do but it is running very strong until the battery drains out!!!! fresh air the only thing that give a clue I will hide it later TPS and SU still keeping the SU's dome MAP sensor Pièce de résistance the GM injector under the SU's dome et voilÃ
