My rear choke is coming on ok when i pull back my lever, but the front one does not move, although i can push up on the linkage at the carb and the nozzle will pull down. What should i look for to repair this? Is it a case of a broken cable, or could the cable be binding up? Alos can you still get OEM cable? I have heard bike cable is not the best thing to use. This is just one thing i'm trying to fix in my ongoing saga, for more details look at the thread"rust in gas bad running now". Thanks folks!!

Hi new to this forum,I joined because you seem to have a good bit of knowledge about the hitachi SU carbs. I am doing a bit of a different project here, actually a different make, but still a vintage japanese car. I am building a custom manifold to install a set of the (what I believe) are the round top SU carbs. I bought these on ebay, for 150 bucks. they are supposed to be off of a datsun 510 sss. they came complete with the manifold. these are going on a 1986 honda accord hatchback, the 2.0 litre one. the last generation of accord hatches too. sniff. anyway I am still trying to identify exactly what I've got here. I assume the round top carbs are the ones with the rounded…

72' 240 with orig carbs. There is gas pouring from the rear carb float overflow. Took the float chamber cover off and the float seems to be closing the valve. What could it be? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, I just purchased a 1973 240Z with a three-speed automatic transmission and Weber DVG(?) carburetors... When I turn a corner (especially a right hand turn), the car hesitates and sometimes dies. It acts like it's not getting fuel... I increased the idle speed to 1000 rpm, but that didn't seem to help. Now, I'm thinking fuel pump... any similar experiences or ideas???

I am still learning a lot about carbs, and am about to learn some more. I know for carbs, elevation matters depending on what elevation it was tuned on but I do not know when elevation starts to matter. I happen to live in a valley that is roughly at 600ft above sea level. I am surrounded by AWESOME driving, but it is all up in the mountains ranging from 1000ft to I would guess 2000ft above sea level. I would say that most of it is at 1600ft, but all of these are rough estimates. Now when I tune my carbs at 600ft, how much performance difference would I see going up 1000ft? I know that in my buddies Bronco and my brothers FJ cruiser, going from 600ft to above 4000ft…

So after all my fretting about the DGVs, I found a deal on the SUs I just couldn't pass up. At the end of the day, I'm just too novice to be a carb pioneer and feel a lot more comfortable working on the SUs given the help available here, the ZTherapy vids, etc. Anyway, I contacted the seller of this auction and got a great price from him. I'm new to this, but it looks to me like it has the two carbs, all the linkage, balance tube and intake maniold. I think I will need a fuel rail, air cleaner housing and a lot of love. I'm in no hurry to get them on, and the experience is academic as much as anything else, so I am really looking forward to taking my time and getting…
