Okay guys, I've decided to give in to the myth about the 260Z N36 manifolds being better than the E46's. My 240Z has been punched oversize. Not sure how much as previous owner couldnt remember. Car has a stage 1 cam and ZT carbs. I've never had it on a dyno but it definitely is stronger than a bone stock 73 Z as I have one of those as well. I have upgraded the ignition also. So I bought a set of N36 manifolds on eBay and decided, what the heck, I'll be my own guinea pig. I made a jig to mount the manifolds and I'm doing some mild porting to get rid of the parting line roughness. Its amazing how rough they actually are. I've read as much on the subject as I wa…

I was cleaning the dirt off the SU carbs from my 240Z (HLS30-01841 build date 2/70) as I begin the restoration process, and I noticed that the oil filler caps on top of the SU carb domes (where you add oil to the damping chamber) are metal and not the black plastic that every other 240Z I have seen has. The tops of the metal caps are flat and smooth with no writing on them, unlike the plastic ones which have the phrase “tighten by handâ€ on them. The metal plating is about gone but you can tell they were finished with yellow dichromate. The carbs are the original “4-screwâ€ type and appear to be identical to any other 1970 carbs. I wonder if these caps are indeed o…

Ok so I bought a pair of Round top SU carbeurators from my brother, dispite the fact that I have to rebuild them I want my Z to look good inside and out when I am done. But on top of the right carbeurator when it starts going into a point so that you can pour oil in there is a fairly sized chip out of the carbeurator, looks like some one hit it with a air chizle. I was wondering is there a exisisting filler so I can smooth it out? I plan on maybe painting them or chrome dip them. Thx all thoughts are appreciated. Ian::

I'm looking for some guidance to help modify the 76 260z carbs. I've read some posts by Tony D that give some hints, but I'm looking for specific information. Can anyone post the Nissan suggested modifciations for the carbs? I think having seperate idel and primary circuits would be advantagous. Any help would be appreciated. http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=497908&t=497807#reply_497908 "making some of the Nissan Suggested modifications and richening up the idle circuit backfires go away." "You can slightly richen the idle circuit by making some of hte passages larger allowing more fuel. Once this is done, you can run fine, AND pass emissions with a prop…

I have done my conversion from flat tops to SUs on my 1973 240z. I have removed the air pump and the egr valve and cleaned it all up with a 240 style balance tube. I was wondering for the other Z owners who have done this same conversion what mixture setting they run. I know the Ztherapy video says around 2 1/2 out. I also have upgraded with msd ignition with the zx dizzy. I am concerned that I am running rich when I regapped my spark plugs the other day and they were all black. I also am only getting about 19 mpg. What setting do you run on your SUs? -thanks

Hey everybody! This is my 1st post. Are there any issues (due to the fuel maybe) with ceramic coating the inside of an intake manifold?

Last weekend I couldnt get my 73 Z started. I initially thought the battery was low as the car has been sitting for about a month. After charging the battery, still no go. I opened the fuse panel - to find the fuel pump inline fuse melted. I replaced the inline fuse but still no start. The electric fuel pump is not priming. My questions: 1 - any ideas what would cause the fuse to melt beyond the obvious overload. Where would I start to find the reason for the overload? 2 - Its my understanding that the wiring goes to a relay by the passenger side kickpanel. Exactly what is the purpose of this relay? 3 - I plan on tracing the circuit and testing along the way - but …

HI I am looking for a cable holder for the twin Hitachi choke cables that fastens to the valve cover. Anybody got one for sale or willing to give up, I'd appreciate it.

Has anyone put a 32/36 K688 kit on a Z? I really want to get rid of my side draft Hitachis. From what I have read the DGV kits mount right up to the existing hardware with no fabrication. Any input is appreciated.

I'm having a suspicion that my lead additive I was using from redline is reacting with the gas causing insoluble sediment. Recently I drained and cleaned the tank because of sediment that I thought was rust, found no rust. I put it back together, clean gas, filter etc. ran for a couple tanks with no additive, then I put it in for about 4 tanks. I checked my filter last week and it was full of this same sediment(brownish/red chunks that when you rub turn to powder) so I changed it, haven't run lead additive for 2 tanks and the filter is still nearly clean. Anybody ever had this problem before?
