I realize it's difficult to see without taking them off the car, but does anyone reconize this header? Thanks much,

Can anyone tell me who makes this header ? It came off a 2 owner '73 Datsun 240Z that I'm getting a 2.8L motor built for. The 6-2 connector is a little beat up due to ground clearance but I'm thinking about getting it bead blasted, painting and wrapping it to save a little bit of money. I'm also toying around with looking for a used Stahl 6-2.

Hi all, I'm finally at the stage were I am ready to install my Stahl headers and either I'm missing a hardware installation kit or I will need to notch the intake manifolds at the lower common studs as the header flange is thinner than the area around the intake. I sent a note off to Stahl as they are gone for the day but I know I didn't receive any hardware and I need to get on with this installation so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What are the thoughts on this copper exhaust gasket? What would be the advantages over a standard exhaust gasket? http://www.ebay.com/itm/310205601801?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I've bought the thick "Williams Washer" for the other 5 studs, the ones that do not attach intake and exhaust together- they were with the bolt kit from MSA, are lock washers not required on the exhaust manifold or header?

The purpose of this thread is to continue a comment that I made about the benefits of modifying the original Datsun L28 exhaust setup and replacing it with headers and a bigger single system. When I was much younger and first started playing around with cars, my mates owned a lot of Fords. They started with straight 6's and moved on to Cleveland and Windsor V8's. Whenever they bolted headers to their cars we could see/feel the difference, cause we were all naughty and raced each other on the street to see who had the quickest/fastest car. "Last week Pete was slower than George but this week, since he's put those headers on....oh boy!" The increases may not be there on 'ot…

I'm considering various changes to the exhaust system. I bought the car last Fall and I don't know anything about changes made to it by prior owners. It looks like not too many years ago Midas re-did the exhaust, including an aftermarket CAT. Question: Did the original CAT on a 76 have a sensor attached to it? In one of the pics in my 76 service manual it looks like a sensor going to the CAT. The one currently on the car doesn't have any sensors. If originally there was a sensor attached to it, I wonder what they did with it? If I replace the CAT with a straight pipe (you know, for off-road use in Michigan!), will it be un-reasonably loud with just the MIdas muffler on it…

Hi everyone, I recently heard of a technique some folks have used to prevent header flange leaks on our L-series engines. The technique is simply cutting the flanges apart in between each tube's mounting bolt holes. This gives the metal somewhere to go when it expands, as I was advised that sometimes as the header flange expands it will bow and create leaks. I heard this from a couple of z-car racers at a race day at Blackhawk Raceway in Wisconsin (I asked them if they were members of our forum, none of them were). I don't know if this is a race-only technique that might weaken a header that needs to put up with longer-term use, or if the technique was even still valid…

Now that the engine is out and on the engine stand, I'm planning to remove the air tubes from the exhaust manifold. As they have been in the manifold for 36 years, I expect they will be hard to remove. Any suggestions before I begin? Any wisdom from those who have done this? I plan to spray them with PB Blaster and possibly heat them with a small propane torch. I understand that the threads are BPT. I'm considering driling them out and making them std metric. Any thoughts on this?

Hey Guys...I was on Craigslist a month ago looking for "Original 240Z exhaust" and struck paydirt. I found an original exhaust from a '73 240Z from the LA area for $120. The seller was a young guy who had recently purchased the 48k mile car from the original owner. It had been sitting for a long time and the son and his dad got the car running with a few evenings of work, and then decided to go with a sportier-sounding exhaust and other engine upgrades. I bought it through Paypal and had it shipped by Greyhound bus to Columbus, OH (cost approx. $100). The exhaust is in incredible condition and has the Nichira muffler and resonator (both still have most of their original b…
