OK, no new story for us Z owners, exhaust fumes getting in the cockpit. However I've covered most bases, and still cant seem to figure it out... I've replaced the rear hatch seal and weatherstripping, adjusted the latch so that it closes very tight. replaced taillight gaskets, and even silicone sealed the outer edges as well of the lights. Took out interior panels and expanding latex sealed the inner fender edges, sealed around all grommets for the fuel tank lines and replaced all grommets in the rear. I even just for the sake of trying took some gaffers tape and taped my hatch shut closing all the areas where fumes could sneak in, and still fumes!! I have a side exit exh…

When I swapped the engine from my parts car into my yellow 240Z last Fall, I attempted to use a normal manifold gasket with the headers. Not too surprisingly, I had exhaust leaks at the head. I knew I should use a header gasket, but was too lazy to order one ahead of time. Before I got around to ordering one of the paper gaskets from MSA, I remembered that the the gasket on the parts car was rather odd. After a bit of research, I found that what it had on it was a Hooker Header Gasket set. (Which makes sense, the header itself is a Hooker Super-comp.) anyone else had this issue with their MSA header? No# 2 exhaust pipe is hitting the bottom of the intake. To match up the gasket ,I need another 1/4 inch too. I sent them pics to see what they say.

I know this has been talked about ad nausium but: Having had a couple of different exhausts (spent a good chunk of money on the last one) and heard a few other Z's I can say that the range in sound is quite amazing. I could really use some guidance because it will save me a lot of money-- you see, if I don't get it right, I'm just going to keep trying til I do. Anyone think theirs couldn't sound better? If so, what do you have? I'm looking at a bunch of stuff. I'm keeping my Clifford Research header (dual 3 into 2) but thinking about: merging to a single 2.25 or 2.5 all the way back with Round: Magnaflow Injen 5zigen Supertrap etc. Car is NA with 2.8 and SU's-- mild…
