Over at z31p.com we have a thread called "What did you do to your Nissan/Datsun today?" or something like that. Just for little miscellaneous trivial stuff like this. I couldn't find any better place for this post so I put it here. I don't mind if it gets moved or deleted. I didn't put it in paint & body because...well t's not exactly paint & body the way it should be done... /shrug Typical Datsun stuff...rust patrol: Cowls aren't waterproof??? Oh well it's just minor rust right? By Datsun standards... No place for big fingers I do better prep work than this and I suck at paint and body Getting started Looking much better Missed the wipe…

Tonight I managed to drop the engine into my '71 240Z. I bought the car earlier this year as a stripped & primered shell with all the parts in boxes. It has been a challenge, as several parts were missing. Fortunately, most items I've been able to find in the rafters of my garage, other parts have come from salvage yard forays and then there is MSA and Black Dragon!

I just realized there was a forum on 'what i did today"-cool! I have been working on Greg's Z forever it seems-sorry Greg, but I'm back at it hard. Today has been a particular fabbing challenge in that I have to rebuild the sheetmetal under the rear hatch panel. Greg supplied me with a repair panel, but once I started digging into things it got ugly. This by far has been one of my most challenging projects. Too many angles and bends. I am pleasantly pleased with how the first side came out, but there is still much to do. Someday I might have some real sheetmetal tools like a metal brake or something, but the vise and some angle iron will have to do for now:laugh:.

Got Sandra Dee running last week, found the weak link- two wires were not making a full contact, thus no power to the injectors. So far: Various fuses/tracked down bad wire(s) replaced+repaired-when applicable New plugs/wires/dist. cap/rotor/air filter Fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator/idle control valve/ignition coil/drive belt Today I drained the oil and removed the alternator and working on removing a stuck bolt on the starter- waiting patiently for the new starter/alternator and oil pump to arrive in the a.m. Can't wait to see the look on her face! -Working with a shoe-string budget and finding the best prices on e-bay to date! Very, very happy when working …
