My complete rear bumper is done and arrived today. Total cost for 2 corners, center, 2 uprights and 4 bolts is $370 plus $40.00 for return shipping. It cost me $15.00 to ship to them so I will have a total of $425.00 into them plus the cost of new rubbber. Keep in mind that I started off with very straight parts but the chrome was pitted on all the parts except the uprights but I had them redone anyway. The worst area was near the exhaust. It seemed that the exhaust kinda melted the chrome away in that area. The only rust was on the mounting bolt threads. It appears they lightly blasted the rust on the mounting bolts so I should be able to hit them with a little ant…

So I'm gradually getting my car (8/73 240Z) back together after mixin' it up with some mailboxes back in April. The car had been painted a darker than stock metallic silver and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to match the paint so I'm planning on having to shoot the entire car. I had assumed the color was 901 silver, but after peeling off the color code sticker (which was oversprayed with paint) enough of the paint came off to reveal a color code of #306. My question is, has anyone seen this color next to 901, and if so, what are your thoughts and preference?

Body work The Z is in the shop stripped of its paint. Will post pictures of progress. The biggest surprise was the right rear quarter. It was free of rust but not free of previous damage and needs to be replaced. I need to find one. If anyone knows of one in the northeast USA I could pick it up. I also have shipping address in New York State. Casey

I've been trying to order some replacement metal for my '78 and Tabco's website won't let me place an order. Tried to call and the recording said the number was disconnected. Anyone heard anything about this? Brent

A while back I had asked if anyone had any idea how much powder coating might cost. The (nearly) local shop that does that work (35 miles away) called me in this morning to tell me they were all done with all of the parts. What you see, which is everything that would detach except for drive line, axles, and rear diff assembly, came to $319.50. I think that was a screaming deal considering they sand blasted everything as well. It looks AWESOME as far as I am concerned. Now the rugged adventure of reinstalling everything....... Damn I have a lot of money in this car..............

My 1970 240z is in the shop getting painted and I was wondering if anyone knows if the area under the cowl panel should be painted the body color or some other color. The photo below shows the area with the panel removed. There is overspray from a previous paint job, but it looks like the area itself was never red (in this case). It almost looks like the grey that is used on the rear finish panel or the grille. Any thoughts?

Just what I said. Broke the hood release cable. I have to go out of town for a few days and don't have time for a broad search. How the heck do you get under the hood to fix this? Taking off the hindges dosen't look like the answer. Ok McGuivers, what flavor bubblegum do I need to fix this mess?

I am going to finish repainting my 3 taillight panel sections today from the blue that they were back to Dupli Color wheel paint HWP102. What was the factory color on the license plate lamp housing? Is it the same as the panels or just black?

Heres the story... I got all the paint off the car finally and theres a few spots that were rusted. My neighbor, whos been helping me the whole time confidently says we should braze the rust spots to save some body shop time, fill it in with metal instead of filler, etc. So I watch him do it, he shows me how to do it and I think all is well. I bring in some photos to work to show a guy who I know restores old 40's Willys to showroom condition. He laughs and says Im screwed cuz the brass will oxidize and bubble within a year and then eventually fall out. He goes on to explain the whole process. The spots Ive done so far are rear deck lid the rear corners above the deck l…

Hey guys. Found this online earlier tonight and I'm wondering if you guys have an opinion on it. By the looks of it I could in theory just cut out the needed holes and place the vents in. Has anyone used or had any experience with these? Jan

I have my panels off the back of my car to repaint them. I figured while I had them off for paint I would replate the plastic taillight surrounds. Has anyone had this done? What was the cost?
