I am replacing my quarter panel on my 240z and I was wondering when I put the new one in should I put lead/solder back in where it meets the roof or should I use body filler. Some people say that today's fillers are much better than the fillers back in the day so please give me your thoughts. What are some good fillers. Thanks

After a week long search i was able to find a new donor roof for 75$! Id like to find a shop to do the work for me, and id like to talk to them before i cut the roof off to see where exactly i should cut it. Im worried about some rust in my existing roof thats right above the drivers side rear window louver. Anyone know a good shop who has experience doing roofs? Thanks so much.

Has anyone here ever had to weld the hinge brackets back onto the Hatch? I have noticed a bit of slop in the operation of the hinges for a while. Well, today, one thing led to another and I ended up removing the hatch. It turns out they had been welded by someone in the past to try to repair the problem but it was not the best weld. The surface metal that they were factory spot welded to is very thin. Beneath this top layer is another layer of metal that seems a bit thicker but the two layers are independent-at least in this location. It looks like I'll need to drill out the hinge bracket to create some new spot welds, but I just wanted to know if any of you have had …

I need a couple of good Wiper Arms. I have searched this site and found a few old posts so I thought I would raise my hand again on this... I have a '78 and would like to locate a nice pair of Wiper Arms. I saw some on http://www.new-datsun-parts.com but would rather not drop $180 on a pair just yet. My drivers side arm has wobbled the mount into an oval and now cannot be properly tightened. A good Drivers and Passengers pair would be great if some one could help me out, maybe we could make a deal.

We have a 1978 280Z Black Pearl and while doing some restoration we removed the rear hatch louvers. Well, as you can imagine, after 32 years the fasteners holding the hinges and latches to the body were pretty much fused together and instead of unscrewing they came out in one piece. These look like some sort of expansion type arrangement but were so rusted it's hard to tell. Does anyone have an idea of where we might acquire replacements?

The pictures are the current state of my 72 110 project. The existing undercoating is pictured. What a PITA to get it out of the engine bay to paint, but not a lick of rust anywhere. I think I am just going to powerwash it (nothing is loose at all) and give it a fresh coat. The suspension components are going to be painted with POR 15 I think. Was going to powder coat and all, but think this will do the trick.

Well after finally retiring, having both my knees replaced, I am back on my 72 Z. Got the welder out and brushed up on my welding and now ready to start on the floorpans. One question is the floorpan bracers/stiffeners. Do I weld them to the pans before installing the pans? My car is on jacks so getting clear access to weld them on after the pans are in place. Thanks, as things progress I am sure I will have more questions. Jimmy Elmore Charleston, SC

From time to time some of you may have read my responses to other threads and saw a reference to Project 3/72. Well I was finally able to upload some pictures of it's progress. At the moment I am sand blasting section by section and appliying a sealer immediately afterwards. At the same time I am pulling all th einterior parts harnesses, interior, controls, etc. I began removing paint with abrasive 3M wheels and finally took my friends advice and got a sandblaster. The difference is incredible. The sand exposes every minute imperfection and completely strips the surface down to the bare metal. It also shows you where the holes are. This will be a big advantage when I begi…

it is for sure the best way to get the nasty old tar mat out of your car in a half hour or less...I was skeptical at first but after the first 10 seconds I was sold... I am being honest when it only took me 30 min to get every single piece of tar mat out only using a hammer, screwdriver and scraper. The dry ice only cost 8 dollars for 15 pounds that was more than enough for the job...thanks to everyone who recommended using it you saved me tons of time...now it is time to start grinding and welding
