Hello, First time posting, now have my 71 in the garage next to my house so I can spend countless hours and $ on it this summer. My first question, my floor pans are rotted gone, I have a lot of 18ga cold rolled sheet steel and will use that instead of buying a pre made pair, and use some 16ga rectangle steel for the floor supports, to save some $. Is there a hard and fast RULE, should the new pans go over or under?

Hi I am trying to decide what colour to paint my early 260, red or yellow. If I go yellow I have a colour all picked out. I am looking for opinions as to what original red is brighter 105 or 110. Bob

Even with my 'how to restore your Z car" book, I can't figure out the weatherstrip for the quarter window-specifically the lower corner pieces. My car is a 9/71 which is one of those transitional months for these cars. From what I read my car uses just the small piece in the lower corners. I don't remember what my car had since i took it apart so many yeras ago:stupid: I have included pictures of what I have in the way of new pieces and some old pieces I had laying in storage. Picture 2 shows some old seals that I had in storage. I think it is obvious that these slip on the bottom of the quarter window frame. They are actually very usable. Picture 3 shows the new seal …

So I've got the passenger-side door striker working much better than before I started messing with it, the door shuts solidly and looks like it's pushing into the weather stripping pretty well. But, as several others have posted before, the door (actually both of them are like this) is sticking out just a tad at the rear. The front looks to be aligned flush and the whole door seems to be off evenly so I don't think anything is twisted or bent, and the hinges operate without any indication of twist or damage. Now here's an observation that I thought I'd bounce off the group - it seems like, as I'm closing the door from the inside (with the panel off so I can see things) …

Help, I seem to have lost one of the l-shaped hood bumpers that are located on the inner lip of the fenders. If anyone has a spare laying around or on a donar car I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance...

will a 240z hatch fit a 78 280z? I need to replace my rusted out one and have a potential replacement with vertical defrost wires.

I have completely striped cleaned and painted the car. I'm starting to put it back together and need advice. There are some supports that are on top of the rails over the front wheels. They had some foam or something on them where they touch the inner fender, Any suggestions on what to put there for the rebuild will be helpful.

A cheap or reasonably priced tailight surrounding plastic panel or whatever the correct name is , a tire shop slammed the spare down on the hatch and cracked it . would be much appreciated . and also when decompressing the bumper shocks on a 280z can you push the bumper all the way into the shocks or is there a certain depth to have the bumpers welded in at? thanks in advance

I'm amazed. While working on my 71 project the ebumpers have been hanging in a guys garage rafters for the past 30 years. They were very rough to the touch and oxidized. I took them to the kitchen sink (yes amazingly with my wifes approval) and used a brass bristeled brush, and cold tap water. The bumpers are smooth and shine now. Another evening with a buffer and some chrome polish just to see if I can get some more shine from them. Another task down on the road to go for a long drive in the country.. I love my Z

Should the latch mechanism be bent like this? It's a pretty beefy chunk of metal so I can't see how it could have gotten a warp that wasn't supposed to be there. http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/AwwsChwA/z%20parts/?action=view¤t=hoodlatch.jpg

Hey guys, I saw a thread several months ago on a homemade rotisserie that involved using heavy plywood cut in a semi-circle, and was mounted on both ends of the car and used to roll the car on its side. I've searched but can't seem to find the thread. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks, Brent
