I've never been crazy about the blocky air dams sold for the 280Zs. I've always preferred the blade-like air dams, like the ones BRE used on their 240Zs. Check out this picture. It's from a 1976 issue of Hot Rod magazine, and it depicts a '76 280Z with a BRE-style air dam. So I know they were once available for the 280Z. Anybody know where I can get one?

Hello all, I began a 240 bumper swap last fall on my 78 280z, with the end result hopefully being a fiberglass font bumper painted body color, and a shaved rear. I decided that the shaved look would be impractical for seattle daily driving(we'll get to that) and built a rear bumper bar using the center from an old 240 and endcaps made from overriders. It was not a showpiece, but something, until I could make up my mind. I was rear-ended thursday, damage being limited to the steel panel below the taillights being destroyed, my bumper left dangling by a bolt, a great scuff on the tailgate, and my twice-pipe's tips being crumpled. The Blazer that hit me rode over the bumper…

MSA has a new version of the BRE Style rear spoiler. It is 5 3/8" tall versus the standard BRE which is 3 7/8" tall. Has anyone out there bought and fitted one? I was wondering about quality of materials and fitment. I want a BRE style spoiler and like the idea that it is a little taller. TIA, Marty

Slowly working on the 110 red/orange on my 240. The painter has come back with a polished valve cover with some color matching. I like it, just curious if others think it is too much. The engine block and air cleaner will be painted to match the car as well.

I have read enough posts in the search function to become dillusional. The orange air cleaner box on my 10/71 appears to be the same orange as the 110 body color. Does anyone know if it indeed was that color? and will I be chastized if I paint it that color? Leonard

I am currently applying last coats of undercoat to my 1973 Zed and will be moving to colour in the next week. I am painting the car Metallic Green (or similar) but am tossing up whether to apply striping to the bonnet roof and hatch lid along the same vein as the GT40 e.g two thick stripes. The stripes colour I was considering was a metallic silver. When I ask the missus of her opinion i get a shrug and "whatever you think" reply. I always thought that the car was "too green" and neede something to break it up (will also assist finding it when I park it on the lawn). So I turn to the experts (you) and would greatfully appreciate all criticism and encouragement on…

Took a while to figure-out, but it was really simple... What was interesting was that when the door panel was off, the lock worked, but with the panel on, it didn't. I finally realized that with the chrome bezel in-place, it held the interior door handle out a bit. This put just a bit of tension on the latch linkage, preventing the lock from engaging. Turns out that when I re-assembled the door and installed the lock and handle mechanisms, I put the inside door latch too far forward. Moving it back about 3/16" inch resolved the problem. Not only that, the inside door handle is positioned a little better than before! One less item on the Datsun "to-do" list.

I am wondering what to do next. My car is back from the body shop, it has been jambed and I am in the process of dropping the engine back in and putting the doors, hatch and hood back on. I wonder what needs to be done before it goes back to get the top coat. Do I install my weatherstrip and seals now or do I wait until after it comes back with the top coat? Should I install the brake lines and fuel lines? What about door/hood/hatch latches? My paint guy is out of town for 3 weeks and I want to have the car ready when he gets back. Thanks, John

I noticed on my 72 Z and in photos of other Z's that the bottom left corner of the hatch is higher than the corner of the rear quarter panel (is not flush) - I'm not sure if this is related to the single strut support or some other issue. Anybody address and correct this?

I have a repro sticker kit and I need assistance with some pics including measurements for correct placement. I would be much obliged, if a fellow '78 owner could post some pics of the OEM stickers along with a tape measure so I could put mine in the correct spots. I need shots of the inside of the Hood, the Radiator, Paint Code, Glovebox door and any where else there is an OEM sticker. Thanks to all in advance!!!
