Mine don't look too nice, and are dinged, scratched & a little rusty. I would like to replace the chrome retaining rings, but they aren't in any of my catalogs. I believe a Z uses 7-inch round lamps? Where can you get the retaining rings for them? thxZ

Lots of work yet to do, but the colors came out perfect. Currently working on the trim and hardware. The body shop made some mistakes and has some more work to do once the paint dries.

Ok so I am getting ready to go get estimates to get my 1971 240z painted. I have all the glass, doors, hatch, windows, etc stripped from the car. The paint needs to be stripped and there needs some minor body work on the sides of the car where the molding was. How much should I be looking to spend to get a good base coat, cleat coat and minor body work for my Z? Thanks Keith

Well she is up on the rotisserie and the new floor panel seams are all welded up. Now that I can see everything so much better I realized that either I missed a reinforcement plate on the drivers rear floor or there wasn't one there originally(I think I missed it). Does anybody know if this is supposed to be on both sides? Jeff

Hello all, I have finally gotten to the point where I can mount the Z to the rotisserie. The front isnt going to be a problem but the rear bumper mounts dont look to be strong enough to hold the entire car up. Is there anybody out there who has any info on how they attatched the rear to the rotisserie? Any help would be appreciated, pics doubly so!! Jeff

Our paintless dent repair guy didn't want to try removing the dents in the door on my Z because he said the paint probably wouldn't hold up to the bending back out. I think it is the original paint and no telling how old the dents are. The dents are quite deep for door dings and it has 3 of them within about a 10" area on the drivers door. I was hoping to get them popped back out and don't really want to mess with having a body shop do it as I can't imagine anyone being able to match the look of the 34 year old paint. Anyone familiar with removing dents with old paint? Will it likely split or do that wonderful spiderweb cracking? -Trevor

This guy couldn't either, so he went with all three. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/395556475.html And it is a bargin at only $27,000 (8k less than his $35k investment)

For those of you who have had their cars dipped or sandblasted, what product did you use to insulate the wiring harness fixing tabs in the engine bay. I could use some heatshrink on them but I'd rather try to find something as close to stock as possible. Can you buy a liquid form of rubber that sets once exposed to air? It would be difficult to do but it could be done with a lot of prior testing. Cheers James

Iv'e posted in Body and Paint on a few occasions and have had the chance to meet quite a few really good people in the process. Iv'e also owned my 260 for just over 20 years. Today I said goodebye to my old girl for the last time. We had alot of good as well as bad times, and I'll remember them all fondly. You see, I had an offer I just couldn't refuse and the young man who purchased her today had the same look in his eyes I must of had 20 years ago when I first laid my eyes on her. He's a Military Man just like I was back then. Theres only one catch to this story. In four months, he'll be putting her on a ship to take back to his home country of Kuwait. He's a Helicopte…

Well, that was the best description I could think of! With prices of *NEW* 240Z tail lights so prohibitively expensive, I wonder whether anyone out there has tried restoring their existing tail lights? I recently tore mine apart to find that you can easily soak the entire light in hot water, then pull the lense away from the backing. That allows you to get in there with cleaning products and really brighten up the lenses. But, the chrome thingies that run across the lenses are the problem. Unless you're lucky enough to have the plastic chrome in good condition (I'm not), then you're left with a problem standing between you and a set of completely mint tail lights! …
